Introduction Harmony Gold Mine is seeking a visionary and driving Senior IS Manager – Project Management Office to develop, shape, and lead a strong, future-ready Transformation Project Management Office (TPMO). Operating primarily within a surface environment with options for remote work as agreed upon by a supervisor, the successful candidate will manage the achievement of strategic transformation objectives and manage all TPMO allocated projects across the organization. This executive role demands a solutions-seeking professional who can handle high-volume portfolios under tight time, stress, and high budget constraints while adhering firmly to the Mine Health and Safety Act. Minimum Requirements To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following criteria: Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Project Management. A Master’s Degree in Project Management is preferred. Methodologies: Certified or deeply proficient in PMBOK / Prince 2 / Agile / Waterfall / PMP / Kerzner frameworks. Experience: At least 10–12 years of relevant experience. 15 years of relevant experience is preferred. Industry Depth: A comprehensive understanding of the mining culture and mining environment. Key Skills: Strong data analysis, reporting, planning, load-balancing, and negotiation skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously and effectively push back on senior stakeholders. Job Description Summary The Senior IS Manager – Project Management Office will establish and spearhead the TPMO to deliver significant strategically aligned projects while shifting the function into an Enterprise Strategic Project Management Office. Key accountabilities include: Strategic Oversight & Vision: Provide operational leadership and direction to the larger business to shape and report on the realization of Harmony’s strategic roadmap, defining specific outcomes-based deliverables for key organization-wide projects. Governance & Trend Analysis: Implement and maintain processes, policies, and governance frameworks for the TPMO portfolio; research global trends to innovate business architecture; and establish a corporate Projects Review Committee run by the business. Resource & Financial Management: Plan, balance, and monitor resource utilization (internal staff, consultants, and contractors) against monthly forecasts; collaborate with Finance to challenge business cases, evaluate ROI, and track ongoing project spend against budgets. Risk & Portfolio Management: Identify, mitigate, and monitor risks, issues, and complex dependencies across all integrated project workstreams, ensuring change management frameworks are properly executed. Stakeholder Engagement & Culture Transformation: Engage and guide executive leadership teams to define project metrics; resolve internal project conflicts; and advocate for a culture shift to embrace TPMO delivery principles. Team Leadership & Mentorship: Lead and empower a significant cross-disciplinary team of Senior Programme Managers, Project Managers, and Administrators, hosting bi-weekly one-on-one and team coaching sessions to solve operational bottlenecks.
