Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and driven SHEQ and Auditing Manager to lead and manage all Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality functions across our national operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring legal compliance, driving operational excellence, managing SHEQ systems, and supporting regional teams to maintain the highest standards of safety and environmental performance. This role requires a hands-on professional with strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of SHE legislation, and experience within a service-related or waste management environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement, maintain, monitor, and continuously improve SHEQ management systems.
- Develop and conduct SHEQ training programmes across the business.
- Manage all incident, accident, and near-miss investigations.
- Administer and manage COID claims and injury-on-duty processes.
- Manage SHE legal appointments and ensure ongoing compliance.
- Coordinate and facilitate SHE Committee Meetings.
- Develop, implement, and maintain emergency preparedness plans.
- Conduct and review risk assessments and surveys.
- Manage contractor compliance and performance.
- Conduct internal audits and monthly SHE inspections.
- Develop, review and update SHEQ policies, procedures and standards.
- Support operational regions on all SHEQ-related matters.
- Compile and present monthly SHEQ reports and statistics.
Compliance & Administration
- Ensure compliance with all company licences, permits and statutory requirements.
- Manage employee medical surveillance and fitness-for-duty programmes.
- Oversee training administration and competency management.
- Monitor and manage performance standards of SHEQ team members.
- Manage departmental budgets and cost accounting functions.
- Oversee purchasing and supply management functions.
- Provide general operational and administrative support to the business.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Safety, Health and Environmental Management or related field.
- NEBOSH qualification preferred.
- Certified Auditor qualification.
- Valid Driver's Licence.

Experience
- Minimum 3 - 5 years' experience managing staff.
- Proven SHEQ management experience within a service-related environment.
- Waste management industry experience is essential.
- Experience managing multiple sites and regional operations.
- Sound knowledge of South African SHE legislation and compliance requirements.
