Our client is a national consulting engineering firm providing civil, structural, mechanical and electrical engineering, project management and environmental consulting services. They have offices across South Africa, including Cape Town, George, Gqeberha, East London, Queenstown, Durban and Johannesburg.
They are looking for an Electrical Engineer or Technologist to join their Cape Town office. The salary is market-related and will be based on qualifications and experience.
Investigation & Design
Conduct scoping and condition assessments of electrical installations and prepare detailed reports.
Plan and design electrical building services, urban and rural reticulation and MV distribution projects.
Design electrical components of engineering projects, including water and wastewater infrastructure, pump stations and pipeline systems.
Prepare tender documentation.
Contract Administration & Construction
Administer electrical engineering contracts from inception to completion and act as the Engineer’s Representative where required.
Monitor construction progress and ensure compliance with design and quality requirements.
Review contractors’ Quality Control Plans and Construction Method Statements.
Measure electrical and electronic installations and prepare payment valuations.
Handle technical queries, resolve issues and lead site and technical meetings.
Support safety and environmental compliance during construction.
Reporting & Administration
Prepare project reports including inception, concept and viability, design, tender evaluation, progress, financial and close-out reports.
Maintain regular communication with clients and project professionals.
Manage day-to-day project and general office administration.
Qualifications & Experience
5–10 years’ post-qualification experience.
ECSA registration as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) or Professional Engineering Technologist (Pr Tech Eng) is preferred, with at least 2 years’ post-registration experience.
Unregistered candidates with 6+ years’ post-qualification experience will be considered if eligible for ECSA registration within 2 years.
Project Experience
Experience in building services and engineering projects, including electrical/electronic installations, solar PV and fire detection systems.
Experience in urban and rural reticulation, distribution and MV networks.
Experience in health, education and public works projects will be advantageous.
Software
Proficient in Relux; DIALux advantageous.
Proficient in AutoCAD; Revit MEP advantageous.
Familiarity with BIM software, particularly Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC Docs, ACC Build and ACC Collaborate Pro), advantageous.
General
Own transport and valid driver’s licence.
