Our Client in the Roof Truss Manufacturing Industry is seeking to employ a Senior Roof Truss Designer to their team based in Port Elizabeth.

Purpose of the Role:

To design, analyse, and optimise roof truss systems for residential, commercial, and industrial projects, ensuring all designs are structurally sound, cost-effective, compliant with industry standards, and efficiently translated into manufacturing and installation requirements. The role also provides technical leadership and support to internal teams, clients, and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements:

• Grade 12.
• Minimum 5–10 years' experience within the Roof Truss Industry.
• Proven senior-level experience in roof truss design.
• Proficiency in roof truss design software such as ITS, MiTek, Multinail, or Pamir.
• Strong understanding of structural engineering principles and timber design.
• Sound knowledge of relevant building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities, but not limited to:

• Design complex roof truss systems using specialised design software.
• Review architectural drawings, engineering specifications, and project requirements.
• Ensure all designs comply with building regulations, safety standards, and client specifications.
• Perform structural calculations, load analysis, and design verification.
• Optimise truss designs for cost-effectiveness, efficiency, and material utilisation.
• Prepare detailed layout drawings, cutting lists, and manufacturing documentation.
• Conduct design reviews and approvals prior to production.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior designers.
• Liaise with architects, engineers, clients, sales teams, and production personnel regarding design requirements and technical queries.
• Support the sales team with technical advice and feasibility assessments.
• Resolve design-related challenges and recommend practical solutions.
• Assist with project execution from design through manufacturing and installation.
• Ensure project deadlines and quality standards are consistently achieved.
