We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Asphalt Plant Superintendent to oversee the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of our asphalt production facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing plant operations, leading production teams, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring compliance with all safety and environmental regulations. Key Responsibilities • Plan daily work activities, allocating resources, and scheduling tasks to meet operational requirements. • Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures, identifying hazards, and promoting safe work practices. • Track daily production targets and ensuring work is completed according to schedules and performance expectations. • Verify that products and services meet required quality standards and specifications. • Manage labour, materials, equipment, and other resources to maximize efficiency and reduce waste. • Identifying operational challenges quickly and implementing effective corrective actions to minimize disruptions. • Work closely with maintenance, logistics, surfacing, contractors, suppliers, and other departments to ensure seamless operations. • Identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce costs, enhance safety, and increase operational efficiency. • Maintain accurate records of production, safety, maintenance, incidents, and operational performance. • Ensure all plant staff comply with health and safety procedures, conduct pre-start inspections, and wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE). • Ensure operators conduct routine equipment inspections, report defects promptly, and operate machinery correctly. • Coordinate with maintenance teams to schedule servicing and repairs, minimizing equipment downtime. • Provide guidance, on-the-job training, and mentoring to improve employees' knowledge, skills, and competence. • Maintain accurate records of production, equipment inspections, incidents, maintenance requests, attendance, and operational performance. • Tracks output, downtime, delays, and efficiency to ensure production goals are achieved. Minimum Requirements • Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (preferred). • Minimum of 5 years' experience in asphalt plant operations, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role. • Strong knowledge of asphalt production processes, plant equipment, and maintenance practices. • Thorough understanding of occupational health and safety regulations. • Excellent leadership, planning, and problem-solving skills. • Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and production reporting systems. • Valid driver's license. Preferred Skills • Experience with continuous or batch asphalt plants. • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities. • Excellent communication and team leadership skills. • Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines. • Knowledge of quality control testing and mix designs. Surfacing MM Surfacing has a number of pavers, rollers, chip spreaders and bitumen distributors to meet all our client’s road surfacing needs.
