FIELD GUIDESafari Lodge | Balule Nature Reserve, Greater Kruger
Kendrick Recruitment is currently searching for a passionate and guest-focused Field Guide for an intimate, well-regarded safari lodge situated within the Balule Private Nature Reserve, part of the unfenced Greater Kruger system and home to the Big 5, cheetah, wild dogs, hippo and an abundance of birdlife.
With just nine chalets and a maximum of 18 guests at any time, this is a highly personalised safari environment where every guiding interaction plays a vital role in shaping the guest experience. The ideal candidate will have a deep love for the bush, strong people skills and a genuine commitment to delivering unforgettable safari experiences.
Position: Live-in (own accommodation provided, meals included)
Minimum Requirements
• FGASA NQF2 essential (FGASA NQF4 preferred)
• Apprentice Trails Guide qualification essential (Lead Trails preferred)
• Valid ARH certificate essential
• Valid SASSETA registration essential
• Valid First Aid certificate essential
• Valid PrDP essential
• Valid NDT registration essential
• Minimum 3 years’ guiding experience in a Big 5 environment essential
• Excellent English communication and guest interaction skills
• Well-presented, enthusiastic and passionate about wildlife and conservation
• Stable work history with contactable references
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct morning and evening game drives within Balule Private Nature Reserve and Greater Kruger
• Lead guided bush walks in accordance with qualifications and reserve protocols
• Deliver engaging, educational and memorable safari experiences
• Ensure guest safety at all times during all activities
• Assist with vehicle checks, maintenance logs and guide administration
• Support lodge operations and contribute positively to a small team environment
Package
• Basic salary: R11,000 – R12,000 per month (depending on experience)
• Live-in accommodation provided
• Meals included
• Uniform provided
