A leading organisation within the public health sector is seeking an experienced Database Administrator: Oracle ERP to support and maintain Oracle database and application environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, security, and reliability of Oracle ERP systems while providing technical support, monitoring, upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Install, configure, maintain, and support Oracle databases and application servers.
Diagnose and resolve database and application server issues to ensure optimal system performance.
Contribute to disaster recovery, business continuity, capacity planning, and scalability initiatives for Oracle applications.
Assist with the physical design and architecture of database and application server environments.
Proactively monitor, maintain, and optimize database and application systems to ensure high availability, security, and performance.
Implement Oracle software rollouts, upgrades, patches, and enhancements.
Utilize automation tools for maintenance, monitoring, alerting, and system administration activities.
Identify required system changes and software patches and implement them according to business and technical requirements.
Adhere to established standard operating procedures, policies, and best practices.
Collaborate with Unix/Linux support teams to ensure the availability and efficient utilization of infrastructure resources.
Conduct database and application server trend analysis and provide reports to management.
Participate in a standby rotation to provide after-hours support and maintenance when required.
Troubleshoot and resolve Oracle workflow issues that impact critical business processes.
Mentor and support junior team members to facilitate knowledge transfer and capacity building.
Prepare and submit technical reports relating to Oracle databases and application servers.
Degree or Diploma in Information Technology or a related field.
Oracle Database Administrator Certification (OCP).
Minimum of 2 to 3 years' experience administering Oracle databases.
Experience working within Oracle ERP environments.
Practical knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems.
Proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, and Oracle Database administration tools.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work effectively under pressure.
Strong customer-service orientation.
Planning and organisational skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
