Position: Instrumentation Maintenance Leader
Reports To: Operations Management
The Instrumentation Maintenance Leader is responsible for planning, organising and executing daily maintenance activities, including repairs, calibrations and testing of a broad range of industrial instrumentation and control systems.
The role will manage and supervise workshop and maintenance activities, ensuring that repairs and services for both internal and external customers are completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with company policies, procedures and quality standards.
The successful candidate will also engage with sales teams and customers to identify service opportunities and support business growth through the effective and reliable execution of maintenance and service activities.
Determine customer needs and effectively promote service capabilities, including installation and maintenance solutions.
Maintain and develop strong relationships with existing and prospective customers.
Forecast and report on annual, monthly and weekly service opportunities using the company CRM system.
Liaise with sales consultants regarding service opportunities and customer requirements.
Establish annual order intake targets in collaboration with sales teams and customers.
Maintain an accurate shutdown, turnaround and outage (STO) opportunity pipeline for relevant customers.
Assess the skills and training requirements of team members and facilitate appropriate training and development interventions.
Ensure that planned job observations and competency assessments are conducted as required.
Implement, maintain and ensure adherence to the quality management system applicable to the repair and maintenance process.
Supervise direct reports within the workshop and maintenance environment.
Ensure optimal utilisation of personnel, equipment and other available resources.
Plan and coordinate daily maintenance, repair, calibration and testing activities.
Ensure all work is completed to the required technical, safety, quality and customer standards.
Support the development and improvement of workshop and maintenance processes.
Drive effective execution of service activities and contribute to customer satisfaction and business growth.
Grade 12 / Matric.
Instrumentation Trade Test and/or National Diploma in Instrumentation.
Supervisory qualification or certification would be advantageous.
3–5 years’ experience in process plant maintenance.
At least 2 years’ supervisory experience.
Strong practical knowledge of industrial instrumentation, control systems and their applications.
Experience in a workshop, maintenance or industrial service environment.
Valid driver's licence.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong leadership and supervisory capabilities.
Ability to drive results through direct reports and operational teams.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Good customer relationship and communication skills.
Ability to plan, organise and prioritise multiple maintenance activities.
Sound understanding of industrial instrumentation and maintenance practices.
Ability to work effectively with technical, operational and sales teams.
Strong attention to quality, safety and compliance.
Commercial awareness and ability to identify service opportunities.
