Our client, a well-established independent Christian school in Randburg, is seeking an experienced Financial Manager to lead its finance function with strategic insight and operational excellence. Duties:
Produce monthly management accounts, variance analysis, and commentary for the Executive Head and Finance Committee
Prepare the annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS for SMEs and coordinate external audits for a clean opinion
Maintain general ledger, fixed asset register, and manage month-end and year-end closing processes
Build and manage rolling 12-month cash flow forecasts, ensuring visibility on fee cycles and cash flow troughs
Lead the annual budgeting process across academic, operational, and support cost centres
Model fee increase scenarios, assess enrolment forecasts, and present recommendations to the Board
Prepare capital expenditure business cases for facilities, IT, and campus development projects
Monitor key operational metrics including learner-per-capita cost, staff-cost ratio, and fee-debtor days
Own the full fee cycle, including billing, collections, bursaries, and financial aid management
Handle sensitive parent financial discussions with discretion and professionalism
Ensure compliance with all statutory, tax, and regulatory requirements, including SARS, VAT, CIPC, and NPO obligations
Oversee payroll administration in line with employment legislation and benefits administration
Manage procurement, supplier relationships, and risk management activities
Serve as a key member of governance forums, presenting financial reports and contributing to strategic planning
Requirements:
B.Com in Accounting, Financial Management, or equivalent (NQF Level 7)
Completed articles (SAICA or SAIPA) or a professional designation
6 to 8 years of relevant financial management experience
Strong skills in budgeting, financial reporting, variance analysis, billing, and debt management
Proven ability to lead financial processes in complex environments
Excellent communication skills with ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial audiences
