THE OPPORTUNITY

Chosen Head Hunting is recruiting a highly skilled Senior Microsoft 365 Cloud Engineer / Technical Lead for a leading, established IT solutions and professional services organisation in Cape Town.

We are looking for an exceptional Microsoft 365 specialist with extensive hands-on experience in enterprise migrations, Modern Workplace solutions, Microsoft infrastructure and technical leadership.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing and delivering complex Microsoft 365 solutions, including tenant-to-tenant migrations, Exchange Online, hybrid environments, identity management and cloud transformation projects.

Microsoft 365 expertise is the primary requirement. Azure experience is advantageous but secondary.

This is a hands-on technical leadership position, not a purely managerial role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Microsoft 365 & Modern Workplace — PRIMARY FOCUS

• Design, implement and manage enterprise Microsoft 365 environments.

• Lead complex Microsoft 365 migration projects.

• Execute tenant-to-tenant migrations.

• Manage Exchange Online and hybrid Exchange environments.

• Lead Google Workspace to Microsoft 365 migrations.

• Implement and manage Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online and OneDrive.

• Configure Microsoft Entra ID and hybrid identity solutions.

• Deploy and manage Microsoft Intune and endpoint management solutions.

• Implement Microsoft 365 security, compliance and governance.

• Troubleshoot complex Microsoft 365 infrastructure and migration issues.

• Design and deliver secure, scalable Modern Workplace solutions.

2. Solution Architecture & Technical Leadership

• Architect Microsoft 365 and Modern Workplace solutions.

• Translate business requirements into practical technical designs.

• Lead enterprise migration and implementation projects.

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers.

• Take ownership of projects from initial assessment through to successful delivery.

• Develop technical documentation, architecture diagrams and implementation plans.

• Act as a senior technical escalation point.

• Ensure successful project delivery and customer satisfaction.

3. Microsoft Infrastructure & Hybrid Environments

• Manage Windows Server and Active Directory environments.

• Implement hybrid identity and directory synchronisation.

• Configure DNS, DHCP, Group Policy and networking components.

• Support Exchange Server and hybrid Exchange environments.

• Troubleshoot authentication, connectivity and infrastructure issues.

• Implement PowerShell scripting and automation.

• Support backup, disaster recovery and business continuity solutions.

4. Microsoft Azure — SECONDARY FOCUS

• Support Azure infrastructure and hybrid cloud environments.

• Manage Azure virtual machines, storage and networking.

• Assist with cloud migrations and infrastructure modernisation.

• Implement Azure identity, security and governance solutions.

• Support integration between Microsoft 365 and Azure services.

5. Customer Engagement & Consulting

• Engage directly with enterprise customers and senior IT stakeholders.

• Conduct technical discovery sessions and infrastructure assessments.

• Present Microsoft 365 solution designs and recommendations.

• Participate in technical workshops and pre-sales engagements.

• Act as a trusted technical adviser to customers.

• Build strong customer relationships through professional service delivery.

ESSENTIAL TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

Candidates must have strong, hands-on experience in:

• Microsoft 365 architecture, administration and implementation.

• Enterprise Microsoft 365 migrations.

• Tenant-to-tenant migrations.

• Exchange Online and hybrid Exchange.

• Google Workspace to Microsoft 365 migrations.

• Microsoft Entra ID and Active Directory.

• Microsoft Intune and endpoint management.

• Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online and OneDrive.

• Microsoft 365 security, compliance and governance.

• Windows Server and hybrid infrastructure.

• PowerShell scripting and automation.

• Technical solution design and project delivery.

Azure experience is beneficial, but deep Microsoft 365 expertise is essential.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

• Ideally 8–10+ years of IT infrastructure and engineering experience.

• Minimum 5 years of strong Microsoft 365 engineering experience.

• Proven experience delivering complex enterprise Microsoft 365 migrations.

• Demonstrated experience with tenant-to-tenant and hybrid Exchange migrations.

• Strong Microsoft infrastructure and Modern Workplace expertise.

• Experience working within an IT systems integrator, managed services provider or professional services environment.

• Ability to lead complex technical implementations.

• Strong customer-facing consulting experience.

• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

• Experience mentoring and guiding technical teams.

PREFERRED MICROSOFT CERTIFICATIONS

• MS-102: Microsoft 365 Administrator Expert.

• MD-102: Endpoint Administrator Associate.

• SC-300: Identity and Access Administrator Associate.

• MS-700: Microsoft Teams Administrator Associate.

• AZ-104: Azure Administrator Associate — advantageous.

• Additional Microsoft 365, security and Modern Workplace certifications will be beneficial.
