Job Description
The Governance Analyst plays a crucial role in ensuring that the organisation adheres to internal policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards. This position involves monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on governance frameworks, risk management practises, and compliance activities within the banking and finance sector. The role requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders to support sound governance practises.
Key Responsibilities
- Lineage, Catalog, evidence packs.
- Monitor and assess the effectiveness of governance frameworks and internal controls.
- Analyse regulatory requirements and ensure the organisation’s policies and procedures align accordingly.
- Conduct regular reviews and audits of governance processes and report findings to senior management.
- Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of governance policies and guidelines.
- Identify areas of potential risk and suggest improvements to mitigate governance-related issues.
- Prepare comprehensive reports on governance activities, compliance status, and risk assessments.
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure adherence to regulatory and legislative requirements.
- Stay updated on changes in legislation, regulations, and industry best practises relevant to governance.
- Assist in training and awareness programmes related to governance and compliance matters.
- Provide expert advice and guidance on governance issues to support decision-making processes.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Law, Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field.
- Professional certification in Governance, Compliance, or Risk Management is advantageous.
Education
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree from a recognised institution in a relevant discipline.
Experience
- At least three years’ experience in governance, compliance, risk management, or a related function within the banking and finance sector.
- Demonstrated experience in interpreting and applying regulatory frameworks and governance standards.
- Proven ability to conduct audits, risk assessments, and compliance reviews.
Knowledge and Skills
- Data Catalog tooling, audit.
- Strong understanding of banking and financial services regulations and governance principles.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in preparing detailed reports and presenting complex information clearly.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, capable of liaising with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities within tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with relevant software tools and governance frameworks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Membership of a recognised governance or risk management professional body.
- Additional training or certification in data protection, anti-money laundering, or financial crime prevention.
- Experience working within a multinational banking environment.
Working Conditions
