Job purpose description*

To support the Head, Finance in the design, production and review of all relevant reports and requested insights and analytics to enable the Financial Managers, the Reporting team and business in delivering and achieving their strategic objectives.

This role will include the review and analysis of reports relating to all aspects of the Income Statement, Balance Sheet and any other non-financial information (including volumetric, headcount and any other pertinent information) which addresses Business Units, Clients and Sectors. This will be achieved through the delivery of high quality, high impact business reports to agreed standards, formats and timelines.

Output group 1*

Execute on all reporting aspects relating to actuals, budgeting, revised estimates and forecast processes

Outputs and measures*

• Deliver in accordance with the priorities as set by the Head, Finance to achieve the objectives of Reporting, Analytics and Insights for the team
• Have a detailed understanding and knowledge of the individual areas which need to be aggregated to ensure data accuracy and integrity to provide the relevant areas better insight
• Understand the data and articulate it in a manner that fosters an understanding of the business at all levels within the area
• Utilise the key sources of data origination within the area to ensure business acumen
• Ensure that all relevant reports and analyses are delivered within agreed timeframes and stored in a controlled and secured environment
• Consolidate and review relevant data to represent an amalgamated area view to the agreed timetables, standards and requirements
• Review analysis and probe commentary to ensure that it accurately addresses requirements which highlights material variances against plans and forecasts
• Preparation of management packs in a timely manner which will be discussed in the various Management, Leadership & Investment forums
• Prepare and Review of financial information on a timely basis to stakeholders, including volumetric, headcount and any other pertinent information
• Understand the cost and recovery dynamics of the area and how it impacts relevant stakeholders and ensure that operational effectiveness is achieved through continuous monitoring of adherence to internal processes pertaining to cost and recovery
• Review the financial forecasts and use insights gleaned from the data to make suggestions which will contribute to the overall financial forecast
• Continuously support Business and Finance partners and promote standardisation, best practice and adhere to existing Group Finance policies across the area
• Liaise with stakeholders and financial managers to enforce timelines
• Ensure all financial information submitted for review is complete, accurate and valid
• Plan and co-ordinate ad hoc requests with Financial Managers and/or stakeholders in a timeous and accurate manner
• Engage collaboratively with the Financial Managers to review and implement projects across the area where new temporary requirements emerge or projects are required to execute changes in people, processes or technology
• Ensure all reporting is produced according to agreed requirements in standardised formats driving efficient and effective decision making by the area’s Manco
• Ensure that the reports are reviewed at the required frequency and distributed to the Head, CIB Technology Finance
• Plan and co-ordinate requests from internal and external stakeholders where necessary
• Regularly engage with the Finance Managers to identify areas in which further insight or analysis is required

• Understand the finance and business environment to provide insight to Financial Managers, Business Partners and the Reporting areas
• Influence stakeholders by challenging the status quo and providing innovative ideas
• Manage stakeholder expectations appropriately within the agreed timetables, standards and requirements
• Contribute to the effective change management of all finance led initiatives into business, with the relevant stakeholders

Monitor risk and ensure compliance

Outputs and measures

• Adhere to the group guidelines and policies around financial management and financial control
  • Ensure that when risk issues are identified they are reported timeously to all relevant stakeholders
  • Ensure reputational and / or business risk is managed appropriately
  • Ensure that mandatory compliance training is completed
  • Continuously enforce all existing policies and procedures and share these with the financial managers in the area

Formal minimum qualification 1*

Degree in Finance / B Commerce

B Commerce with Honours
