Urgently needed, Short listed candidates will be vetted and will be required to undergo a practical test. - Prepare fibre-optic cables, tubes, trays and joint closures for splicing. - Perform fusion splicing of optical fibres using approved splicing equipment. - Identify and correctly match fibres according to the approved fibre schedule and splice plan. - Clean, strip, cleave and prepare fibres before splicing. - Install and secure spliced fibres inside joint closures, splice trays and termination enclosures. - Conduct visual inspections and ensure splice protection sleeves are correctly installed. - Perform OTDR, power-meter and light-source testing as required. - Record splice losses, test results, fibre identification and joint information. - Identify and rectify poor or failed splices. - Maintain splicing machines, cleavers, tools and testing equipment in good working condition. - Protect completed joints against moisture, contamination, mechanical damage and environmental conditions. - Follow approved method statements, risk assessments, quality requirements and site safety procedures. - Maintain good housekeeping and ensure fibre off-cuts and waste are safely collected and disposed of. - Report damaged cables, defective equipment, unsafe conditions and deviations to the supervisor. - Complete required splicing records, test reports, joint schedules and as-built information.Error!
