Job Summary
At The President Hotel, beverage service is a key part of the overall guest experience and operational success of the hotel. As part of a large, high-volume hotel Food & Beverage operation, strong bar leadership is essential to maintaining service standards, cost control, and guest satisfaction.
We are seeking an experienced Hotel Bar Supervisor to oversee daily bar operations, lead and develop the bar team, and ensure consistent service delivery within a structured hotel environment. This role requires proven hotel beverage experience, strong operational control, and hands-on leadership on the floor.
This position is suited to a hospitality professional who understands hotel bar operations, stock control, compliance, and guest service delivery within a busy, multi-outlet hotel setting. Hotel experience is essential for this role.
Minimum Requirements
- Matric Certificate (Grade 12)
- Relevant hospitality or beverage qualification (advantageous)
- Minimum 2–3 years’ experience as a Bar Supervisor or Senior Bartender within a hotel environment
- Experience working within a 4 or 5-star hotel or large branded hospitality operation
- Strong knowledge of bar operations, stock control, and beverage cost management
- Experience using POS systems and bar operations software
- Sound understanding of liquor licensing laws and compliance requirements
- Ability to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays

Key Responsibilities
Bar Operations & Service Delivery
- Oversee daily hotel bar operations to ensure efficient and timely service
- Supervise, train, and support bartenders, barbacks, and service staff
- Maintain strong floor presence during service periods
- Monitor bar performance and implement improvements where required
- Resolve guest concerns professionally and ensure service recovery
Inventory Management & Cost Control
- Manage bar inventory including ordering, receiving, storage, and stock rotation
- Conduct daily stock counts, variance analysis, and stock reconciliations
- Minimise wastage and support cost-effective beverage operations
- Monitor beverage cost of sales (COS) and support budget targets
Quality, Standards & Compliance
- Ensure high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation within all bar areas
- Maintain consistency in beverage preparation, quality, and presentation
- Ensure compliance with liquor licensing laws, health and safety regulations, and hotel policies
Guest Experience
- Deliver professional, attentive, and engaging beverage service
- Build rapport with repeat and VIP guests in line with hotel service standards
- Handle guest feedback and complaints efficiently and professionally
Team Leadership & Development
- Motivate and lead the bar team to achieve consistent performance
- Foster a positive, structured, and professional team environment
- Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and feedback
- Address disciplinary matters fairly and in line with company procedures
Financial & Operational Support
- Assist in achieving monthly budget and revenue targets
- Identify opportunities to maximise revenue through menu engineering, promotions, and upselling
- Participate in operational meetings, training sessions, and departmental briefings
- Support the Food & Beverage Manager with additional operational duties as required
