We are seeking a highly experienced Principal AWS Architect / Team Lead to head up our AWS capability within CSD. This is a senior leadership role responsible for defining and driving AWS strategy, leading a high-performing team of cloud architects and consultants, and ensuring excellence across enterprise-scale AWS engagements. The ideal candidate will combine deep AWS technical expertise with strong leadership and consulting experience, operating confidently at both strategic and hands-on levels with senior client stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the AWS capability within CSD, defining and executing the AWS cloud strategy and roadmap
  
• Act as technical authority for AWS architecture across all client engagements
  
• Design and oversee end-to-end AWS solutions including migration, modernization, and cloud-native architectures
  
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of AWS architects and cloud consultants
  
• Ensure delivery excellence across multiple concurrent enterprise client engagements
  
• Engage with senior and executive stakeholders to define cloud strategy and transformation roadmaps
  
• Drive adoption of AWS best practices, governance frameworks, and architectural standards
  
• Provide hands-on architectural guidance in complex hybrid and multi-cloud environments
  
• Support presales activities including solution design, proposals, and client presentations
  
• Ensure all solutions are secure, scalable, resilient, and cost-optimised
  
• Drive innovation and continuous improvement within the AWS practice
  

Technical Skills & Experience

• Strong expertise across core AWS services: EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, RDS, Lambda, CloudFormation, EKS/ECS
  
• Deep knowledge of AWS Well-Architected Framework
  
• Experience designing cloud-native, microservices, serverless, and event-driven architectures
  
• Strong background in hybrid and multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  
• Infrastructure as Code experience (Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, CDK)
  
• Strong understanding of AWS networking, identity, security, and governance
  
• Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines (Git, Jenkins, GitLab, etc.)
  
• Containerisation and orchestration experience (Docker, Kubernetes, EKS)
  
• Experience with FinOps, cloud cost optimisation, and governance frameworks
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional (required)
  
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate (preferred)
  
• AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional (advantageous)
  
• Additional certifications in Kubernetes, Terraform, or cloud security (beneficial)
  
• TOGAF or other enterprise architecture certifications (advantageous)
  

Experience Required

• 10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, cloud, or solution architecture roles
  
• 5+ years of hands-on AWS architecture experience
  
• Proven experience leading cloud architecture teams in enterprise environments
  
• Strong track record in delivering large-scale cloud transformation programmes
  
• Consulting or client-facing advisory experience strongly preferred
