About the Role

Join a leading technology business and play a key role in running, securing and extending production OpenStack private clouds that host GPU compute for enterprise and sovereign clients.

You will operate core OpenStack services, onboard tenants, manage GPU infrastructure, networking and storage, drive upgrades and automation, and lead incident response.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain production OpenStack services.

• Onboard and manage tenants.

• Manage GPU infrastructure, networking and storage.

• Troubleshoot Linux systems, virtual machines and hypervisor faults.

• Drive infrastructure upgrades and automation.

• Support incident response and structured change control.

• Maintain and secure private cloud infrastructure.

Minimum Requirements

• 5+ years of Linux systems administration experience (Ubuntu or RHEL family).

• 3+ years of experience operating OpenStack in production environments.

• Experience with KVM and libvirt, including troubleshooting instance and hypervisor faults.

• Networking fundamentals, including VLAN, VXLAN, routing, BGP, DNS and DHCP.

• Ansible, plus Python or Bash scripting.

• Git-based change control and structured incident handling.

Advantageous Experience

• Ceph or enterprise NVMe storage, such as VAST Data.

• NVIDIA GPU virtualisation, including vGPU and MIG.

• RDMA or RoCE networking.

• Kubernetes and Slurm or other HPC schedulers.

• Prometheus, Grafana and OpenSearch or ELK.

• OpenStack deployment frameworks, such as Kolla-Ansible, Charmed OpenStack, Red Hat OpenStack Platform or commercial distributions.

Additional Requirements and Working Conditions

• Participation in an on-call/standby rota.

• Regular on-site work at Gauteng client data centres.

• Criminal and credit checks; some client sites may require additional vetting.

• A degree or diploma in IT, Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent experience.
