Role Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Digital Marketing Manager to implement and manage its customer-facing digital strategy across divisional, brand and dealership websites.
The role will take responsibility for the functionality, performance and continuous enhancement of the organisation’s digital platforms, with a strong focus on improving customer experience, generating measurable commercial results and supporting vehicle sales, aftersales enquiries and customer engagement.
The successful candidate will manage digital customer journeys, website optimisation, digital agencies and suppliers, projects and budgets, while using performance data and customer insights to continually improve digital effectiveness.
Candidates with digital agency experience will be particularly well suited to the role.
Key Responsibilities
Digital Strategy & Customer Experience
Implement digital initiatives aligned with the organisation’s marketing strategy and business priorities.
Plan and execute digital campaigns and automated customer journeys in collaboration with internal marketing teams and external agencies.
Optimise the customer journey from initial website visit through to enquiry, dealership engagement and conversion.
Support the development and ongoing enhancement of customer portals and other digital customer experience solutions.
Identify relevant digital trends, technologies and opportunities that can improve marketing effectiveness.
Website Management & Optimisation
Oversee the day-to-day operation, functionality and performance of divisional, brand and dealership websites.
Manage website content, updates and ongoing maintenance through content management systems and appointed suppliers.
Partner with development agencies to improve website design, navigation, usability, mobile responsiveness and functionality.
Ensure vehicle listings, promotional offers, dealership information and enquiry forms remain accurate, current and fully functional.
Coordinate website enhancements, testing and implementation in line with business requirements.
Manage website live-chat functionality and coordinate the effective routing of customer enquiries to the appropriate teams.
SEO, Analytics & Digital Performance
Manage technical, on-page and content-related Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) in collaboration with agencies and developers.
Monitor and evaluate website performance using tools such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Semrush and heat-mapping platforms.
Analyse website traffic, customer behaviour and conversion performance to identify opportunities for improvement.
Work with Business Intelligence, IT and lead management teams to maintain reliable data integration and performance tracking.
Develop dashboards and performance reports that translate digital data into actionable insights and recommendations for management.
Agency, Supplier & Project Management
Manage digital agencies and suppliers against agreed deliverables, service levels and deadlines.
Prioritise development requirements and effectively manage agency retainer hours.
Coordinate digital projects from initial briefing and planning through testing, implementation and post-implementation review.
Engage with marketing, dealership, IT and other internal stakeholders to ensure digital solutions meet operational requirements.
Manage multiple concurrent projects and undertake additional digital marketing initiatives as required.
Budget, Governance & Compliance
Plan and manage website and digital platform budgets, monitor expenditure and oversee associated costing and invoicing.
Assess supplier performance and expenditure to ensure value for money.
Work with relevant internal teams to ensure digital platforms and campaigns comply with applicable privacy, consent, brand and governance requirements.
Maintain appropriate approval processes and quality controls for website content and changes.
Minimum Requirements
A relevant qualification in Digital Marketing, Marketing, Information Systems or a related field.
At least 5 years’ relevant digital marketing experience, including responsibility for website management, optimisation and digital projects.
Experience managing digital agencies, suppliers, budgets and project delivery.
Practical experience working with content management systems, SEO, web analytics and conversion optimisation.
Experience with CRM, lead management or marketing automation platforms.
Demonstrated ability to interpret digital performance data and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
Experience within automotive retail or a multi-brand, multi-site retail environment would be advantageous.
Digital agency experience is preferred.

Remuneration & Benefits
A market-related Total Cost to Company package of approximately R50,000 to R65,000 per month is offered, incorporating a basic salary together with benefits such as a company vehicle, fuel, cellphone allowance, subsidised medical aid and retirement/provident fund benefits.
In addition, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to earn a quarterly performance incentive of up to R20,000, over and above the monthly package.

The ideal candidate is a commercially minded digital marketing professional with strong website, SEO, analytics and digital customer journey experience. They should be comfortable managing agencies, suppliers and multiple digital projects, while using performance data to drive measurable improvements. Digital agency experience will be highly advantageous.
