MAINTENANCE MANAGER

A well-established manufacturing company in Vereeniging is seeking an experienced and hands-on Maintenance Manager to lead its maintenance department. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all maintenance activities, ensuring maximum equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, implementing preventative maintenance strategies, and leading a team of maintenance personnel to support efficient production operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and oversee all plant maintenance activities, including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and instrumentation systems.
Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
Lead, mentor, and supervise maintenance personnel and contractors.
Ensure the efficient maintenance and repair of conventional and CNC machinery.
Oversee PLC fault finding, electrical maintenance, drives, and control systems.
Manage boiler maintenance, inspections, and compliance requirements.
Coordinate fabrication, welding, and general engineering maintenance activities.
Interpret and review engineering drawings and technical documentation.
Develop and maintain maintenance procedures, standards, and best practices.
Manage ISO maintenance schedules, records, and document control systems.
Oversee crane maintenance and statutory inspections.
Ensure the reliability and maintenance of thermal coupling systems and associated equipment.
Manage instrumentation maintenance and fault-finding activities.
Monitor plant performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Plan and manage maintenance shutdowns and major repair projects.
Liaise with suppliers, contractors, and service providers to ensure quality workmanship and cost-effective solutions.
Manage maintenance budgets, spares inventory, and procurement requirements.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, quality, and housekeeping standards.
Drive a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence within the maintenance department.
Minimum Requirements
Qualified Millwright, Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering qualification.
Minimum 5–10 years' maintenance experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Previous experience in a Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Superintendent, or Senior Maintenance Supervisor role.
Strong knowledge of PLC fault finding, electrical systems, drives, boilers, instrumentation, fabrication, and welding.
Experience maintaining conventional and CNC machinery.
Strong understanding of preventative and predictive maintenance principles.
Experience implementing and managing maintenance systems, procedures, and schedules.
Knowledge of ISO maintenance systems and document control.
Experience managing maintenance teams, contractors, and service providers.
Budget management and maintenance planning experience will be advantageous.
