Job Summary
Description:Hire Resolve's Client is currently looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join their mining company based in Gauteng. You will be responsible for cost and management accounting, profitability analysis, financial modelling and commercial reporting, supporting informed decision-making across trading, operations and logistics.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain detailed costing models for commodity trades, contracts, shipments and vessels.
- Analyse trade and vessel profitability, including actual versus expected gross margin.
- Calculate and analyse landed costs, including transport, rail, port handling, storage, stockpile management and other logistics costs.
- Manage inventory accounting, stock reconciliations, landed costs, accruals and cost allocations.
- Prepare monthly management accounts, profitability reports, budgets, forecasts and variance analysis.
- Analyse profitability by commodity, customer, supplier, contract, trade and vessel.
- Perform scenario and sensitivity analysis relating to commodity prices, exchange rates, logistics costs and volumes.
- Analyse the profitability and cash flow of proposed transactions.
- Support commercial and trading teams with costing and profitability analysis.
- Analyse foreign currency exposures and transaction cash flows.
Requirements:
- Grade 12
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Cost and Management Accounting or related
- CIMA, CGMA or similar professional qualification would be advantageous
- Minimum 8 years' experience as an Accountant within the mining industry
- Extensive experience in cost accounting and management reporting
- Experience working with ERP/accounting systems and large volumes of financial and operational data
- Advanced MS Excel and financial modelling skills
