Job Summary
In order to be considered the following is required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
- Professional qualification (e.g., CA(SA), ACCA, CIMA) preferred
- 5 –10 years of finance experience, ideally within FMCG or manufacturing
- Strong experience in financial operations, reporting, and supply chain finance
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Advanced Excel and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle)
- Knowledge of FMCG dynamics (high volume, low margin, fast turnover)
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication
- Strong understanding of working capital and cost management
- Shared services – intercompany knowledge
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting
- Working capital improvements (DSO, DPO, inventory turnover)
- Cost savings and margin improvements
- Forecast accuracy
- Process efficiency and automation gains
Responsibilities:
Financial Operations & Reporting:
- Oversee daily financial activities including accounts payable, receivable and general ledger
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting (monthly, quarterly, annual)
- Manage financial close processes and ensure compliance with accounting standards (e.g., IFRS / GAAP)
- Monitor and improve financial processes and controls
Working Capital Management:
- Optimize cash flow, inventory levels, and receivables / payables cycles
- Monitor debtor collections and manage credit risk
- Drive initiatives to improve cash conversion cycle
Cost Control & Margin Management:
- Track cost of goods sold (COGS), distribution, and operational expenses
- Analyze product margins and identify cost-saving opportunities
- Partner with procurement and supply chain to manage costs effectively
Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Lead budgeting and rolling forecasts aligned with sales and operations plans
- Provide variance analysis and actionable insights to management
- Support scenario planning in a dynamic FMCG environment
Business Partnering:
- Collaborate with sales, marketing, and supply chain teams to support decision-making
- Provide financial insights on pricing, promotions and product launches
- Support commercial strategies with financial analysis
Compliance & Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, tax regulations, and audit requirements
- Maintain strong internal controls and governance frameworks
- Manage audits and liaise with external auditors
Systems & Process Improvement:
- Drive automation and efficiency in financial systems (e.g. ERP)
- Improve reporting tools and dashboards for real-time insights
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives in finance operations
Team Leadership:
- Manage and develop finance operations staff
- Build a high-performance team culture focused on accuracy and efficiency
