The property is currently undergoing an extensive redevelopment, including the construction of new guest suites and the complete rebuild of the main lodge. The redesigned facilities will feature a modern, thoughtfully curated layout, including a new kitchen, bar, dining area, and elegant guest spaces, all designed to support an elevated lodge experience blending refined hospitality, warm personalised service, and authentic safari moments. The lodge will accommodate up to twenty international guests, offering exclusive seven-night fixed-stay safari experiences arranged through its established European ownership and agency network. This is a junior culinary position responsible for preparing daily staff meals, supporting the main kitchen team, and assisting with scullery duties when required. The Canteen Chef plays an important role in ensuring the kitchen runs smoothly behind the scenes. The primary responsibility of this role is to plan, prepare, and serve nutritious, well‑balanced staff meals on time each day. The Junior / Canteen Chef will also assist the senior chefs with basic prep, mise en place, and kitchen organisation. Scullery duties form the final part of the role and are shared as needed. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a recently qualified Chef to gain hands-on experience within a luxury lodge environment - providing valuable exposure to the main lodge kitchen, allowing for learning, development, and growth. Plan and prepare daily staff meals for up to 20 employees Ensure meals are nutritious, balanced, and served on time Manage stock for staff meals and minimise wastage Maintain cleanliness and organisation in the staff kitchen Assist senior chefs with basic prep and mise en place Follow recipes and instructions from senior chefs Assist with packing, storing, and labelling food items Assist with stock runs Assist with washing dishes, pots, and equipment when required Maintain cleanliness of workstations and kitchen areas Follow daily cleaning schedules and hygiene standards Support general kitchen organisation and waste management ???????????? / ??????? / ???? ????? The lodge is located within approximately 30km of Vaalwater, reached via a mostly rugged gravel road - successful candidates must be able to arrange their own transport for days off and personal errands. This is a remote, on‑site living position with single accommodation; candidates must be comfortable living in a quiet, rural environment. Due to the nature of the accommodation and operational requirements: family, children and pets cannot be accommodated. Must have access to Whatsapp video / Zoom / Microsoft Teams for initial interviews. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an in‑person interview at the property.
