A luxury boutique hotel nestled in the scenic Stellenbosch region requires a seasoned Assistant Hotel Manager. The successful incumbent will be an astute and highly refined hospitality leader with a proven legacy of excellence in 5-star boutique properties. Role Overview: To drive the operational efficiency and service quality of a Luxury Hotel property. Under the direction of the Hotel Manager, this role establishes the structural framework, systems, and support that allow departmental teams to execute their duties flawlessly and meet institutional objectives. This requires a highly efficient, solutions-driven individual who thrives under pressure and commands control over fast-paced, fluid environments. Core Responsibilities Guest Experience & Brand Reputation: Service Delivery: Maintain world-class service standards across all departments to consistently maximize online reputation metrics and direct guest satisfaction feedback. Safety & Compliance: Execute, audit, and enforce all policies and processes related to guest safety, security, and specialized preferences. Discreet Preference Tracking: Implement and oversee data capture systems that track and communicate guest preferences seamlessly without compromising privacy. Quality Improvement: Continuously identify operational gaps, propose structural quality enhancements, and take full ownership of their implementation. Departmental Supervision & Financial Control: Cross-Functional Oversight: Maintain detailed, functional knowledge of Front Office, Housekeeping, and Food & Beverage procedures to provide constant, real-time operational guidance. Fiscal Management: Prepare and propose the annual departmental budget. Partner with Finance and Purchasing to manage inventory and par stock levels to protect service quality. Cost Control: Direct the allocation of equipment and consumption of stock to eliminate waste and maximize efficiency. Labor Management: Manage department rosters, attendance tracking, and leave balances to keep staffing costs strictly within budget parameters. Financial Integrity: Oversee Night Audit performance to guarantee daily financial data accuracy. Conduct regular reconciliations of all property floats to prevent discrepancies. Team Leadership & Supplier Relations: Performance & Accountability: Provide structured feedback, conduct formal performance appraisals, and manage team output against required standards. Discipline: Enforce the company Code of Conduct and handle disciplinary actions directly and objectively whenever necessary. Training and Team Buidling: Run continuous training schedules on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure absolute team fluency. Vendor Management: Oversee third-party suppliers to ensure service delivery aligns with the organization's standards and guest expectations. Communication Flow: Command presence at daily, weekly, and monthly operational meetings to maintain complete alignment with departmental and wider organizational developments. Experience & Qualifications: Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience in hotel management or a parallel leadership role within luxury hospitality. Education: Diploma or Degree in Hospitality Management or Tourism is beneficial. Systems: Advanced literacy in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). PMS: Direct operational experience with Protel Property Management System is highly advantageous. Licensing: Valid, unblemished driver’s license with no endorsements.
