Assistant Front Office Manager | Onsite, Newlands Cape Town Acting as the hotel's central communications hub and providing support to Heads of Department, you are a vibrant, energetic, and experienced Assistant Front Office Manager. You will be responsible for supervising all front office staff duties and ensuring that every one of our guests receives personalised attention every time. Part of your role will be to manage all front desk and luggage service operations, overseeing daily check-ins, check-outs, and guest registrations, and monitoring room availability and occupancy levels, and ensuring the efficient allocation of rooms, together with HSK. You will handle guest inquiries, complaints, and requests professionally, as well as manage shift scheduling, staff coverage, and ensure adequate resources are available. Through monitoring procedures and systems, you will ensure that staff are trained to perform their duties effectively and handle guest complaints and requests promptly to enhance the overall guest experience. You will work with the Security Manager to address theft incidents. You have a hospitality qualification (degree or diploma) NQF 5-7 from a recognised South African or International Educational Institution with 3 years' current experience in a similar role in a busy, upmarket hotel. Along with a valid driver's license, you must be flexible and able to work shifts and fulfil duty management shifts (required to work night shift when needed). You have a background in using technology, including micros, opera/speed point machine, and MS 365. A satisfactory credit record and criminal record, with criminal offences considered on a case-by-case basis according to their severity and relevance to the role, will set you apart from the rest. A track record of leading and managing large teams (front office staff complement of approximately 20) and experience in handling floats and staff refunds will strengthen your application. You will bring your strong background in front office operations, including coordination, allocations, cash management, and accounting, to ensure seamless day-to-day processes. With your excellent communication skills and expertise in tools like Opera Cloud and MS365, you will lead with initiative, providing clear direction and structuring tasks effectively. Your commitment to quality and results-driven mindset will drive success, as you manage people through forecasting, rostering, and performance management.
