Job Summary
Our client, a well-established organisation operating within the materials handling and equipment industry, is currently looking to employ a Parts and Workshop Assistant - based in Nelspruit.
Purpose of this role:
To support the effective operation of the parts department and workshop administration by assisting with parts counter sales, bin and stock control, parts ordering, and accurate job card costing and administration. This role ensures technicians have the correct parts on time and customers receive professional, efficient service.
Responsibilities:
- Parts Counter and Sales Support
- Assist customers at the parts counter in a professional and friendly manner
- Identify and supply correct parts based on customer or technician requirements
- Process parts sales and quotations
- Liaise with technicians to ensure correct parts are issued for jobs
- Bin Management and Stock Control
- Maintain accurate bin locations and stock levels
- Ensure parts are correctly binned, labelled, and organized
- Assist with regular stock counts and stock reconciliation
- Monitor fast-moving parts and report shortages
- Parts Re-ordering
- Assist with re-ordering of stock based on minimum/maximum levels
- Follow up on outstanding orders with suppliers
- Ensure urgent parts are prioritized and tracked
Workshop Administration:
- Assist with workshop parts orders for job cards
- Capture parts used on job cards accurately
- Assist with job card costing and invoicing preparation
- Maintain proper documentation and filing of workshop records
General Administration:
- Maintain accurate records on the system
- Assist with general admin duties within the parts and workshop department
- Support Parts Manager and Workshop Manager as required
Minimum Requirements
- Strong technical background (mechanical / forklift / automotive knowledge advantageous)
- Computer literate (Excel, email, stock systems)
- Previous experience in parts or workshop environment
- Knowledge of forklift or automotive parts
- Experience with stock control systems
- Matric Certificate - Minimum
