General Manager - Luxury Wilderness Retreat & Restaurant - Cederberg, Western Cape Kendrick Recruitment is searching for an experienced, hands-on General/Lodge Manager for a well-established and beloved wilderness retreat nestled in the heart of the Cederberg Mountains - a UNESCO World Heritage area of stunning peaks, perennial rivers, exceptional stargazing and dramatic natural beauty, approximately three hours from Cape Town. The property offers diverse accommodation across self-catering villas, eco-luxury tented suites and camping, complemented by an on-site restaurant and a wide range of outdoor activities. The operation also includes a working olive farm, making this a truly unique, multi-faceted management role for someone who loves the outdoors and thrives in a remote environment. This is a role for a practical, grounded and proactive leader who leads by example, remains calm under pressure and is genuinely committed to delivering exceptional guest experiences in an extraordinary natural setting. Minimum Requirements: Minimum 3 years' senior management experience in luxury lodge or hospitality management - essential Culinary knowledge and F&B operations experience - essential Strong leadership and team management skills across multiple departments Solid financial management capability, including budgeting, stock control and reporting Hands-on; adaptable and operationally strong - this is not a desk role Excellent communication and problem-solving skills Self-driven; solution-oriented and comfortable working with significant autonomy Experience managing maintenance, vehicles and property upkeep is advantageous Valid South African driver's license Genuinely comfortable living and working in a remote wilderness environment Stable work history with contactable references Key Responsibilities: Oversee all daily lodge operations across accommodation, the restaurant and guest experience teams Manage the full guest journey from pre-arrival through to departure, ensuring consistently exceptional standards Lead; supervise and develop lodge staff across all departments Oversee kitchen operations and ensure food quality, menu delivery and service standards are upheld Conduct regular property inspections across all accommodation, public areas and facilities Manage stock control, maintenance scheduling, vehicles and guest areas Coordinate guest flow, scheduling and operational logistics Liaise with the farm manager on olive farm operations and with Head Office on broader operational matters Manage supplier relationships and procurement within budget Provide strong financial oversight and monthly reporting Support lodge operations during emergencies and weather or environmental related challenges Act as the on-the-ground custodian of the property's brand, standards and conservation values Package: Gross Salary: R45,000 per month (DOE) Live-in: Single Accommodation and meals provided Rotation: 3 weeks on / 1 week off Start date: As soon as possible Should you feel you are the right fit for this role, please apply with your updated CV, a motivation letter, contactable references and a recent head & shoulders photo ASAP! ?
