Our client is a dynamic South African hospitality group with an established portfolio of much-loved restaurants in Johannesburg. Two of their flagship Johannesburg properties are looking for two Head Chefs to take full ownership of their respective kitchens. Both restaurants operate at the upper end of the Johannesburg dining scene, and the group has a strong culture of creativity, consistency, and kitchen pride. The successful candidates will take complete ownership of their respective kitchens – from menu development and sourcing to team leadership, kitchen systems, and financial management. These are hands-on roles for chefs who are present on the pass, invested in their teams, and passionate about producing exceptional food in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. A particular emphasis is placed on the ability to mentor and develop junior kitchen staff. ???????????? A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Head Chef or senior chef role within an upmarket, high-volume kitchen. Prior experience at well-regarded Johannesburg restaurants will be a distinct advantage. A genuine ability to mentor and develop junior kitchen staff – building skill levels, maintaining consistency, and fostering a positive kitchen culture. Strong creative range across global flavours, seasonal ingredients, and contemporary plating. Solid financial acumen: food costing, GP management, wastage control, and supplier relationships. Hands-on; on-the-pass presence – these roles are not suited to back-office chefs. High energy and the ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced service environment. A passion for the South African dining scene and a commitment to ongoing innovation. Excellent communication and team leadership skills. Stable employment history with contactable references.
