Job Summary
A well-established 4-Star Hotel in East London is seeking a professional and customer-focused Switchboard Operator to join our Front Office team. Key Responsibilities Operate the hotel's telephone system efficiently and professionally. Answer; screen, and direct all incoming calls to the appropriate departments. Assist guests and staff with outgoing calls and telephone-related enquiries. Ensure all guest enquiries, requests, and requirements are handled promptly and courteously. Assist with Reception duties when required. Maintain a high standard of personal appearance, hygiene, and grooming in line with hotel standards. Answer all calls with warmth, courtesy, and professionalism, reflecting the hotel's image and service standards. Assist guests in obtaining information and making telephone calls. Escalate guest requests or complaints to the appropriate manager when immediate assistance cannot be provided. Accurately record and perform wake-up calls in a courteous and timely manner. Assist with Front Office-related duties, including delivering messages, newspapers, and other items to guest rooms when required. Demonstrate knowledge of hotel emergency procedures and respond appropriately to emergency calls and situations. Perform any other duties reasonably assigned by the Front Office Manager. Minimum Requirements Grade 12 (Matric). Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. Customer-service orientated with a friendly and professional manner. Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods when required. Ability to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays. Preferred Previous experience in a hotel, hospitality, reception, or switchboard environment will be advantageous.
