Food & Beverage Manager
Zanzibar, Tanzania
Paradise Beach Resort is seeking an energetic, ambitious, and highly operational Food & Beverage Manager to lead and further develop our Food & Beverage and Bar operations within a large all-inclusive beach resort environment. This is not a desk-based management role. We are looking for someone who enjoys being on the floor, interacting with guests, developing teams, improving standards, and driving results. The successful candidate will work closely with the Executive Chef and senior management team to oversee daily F&B operations while helping shape the future direction of the department. For the right person, this is far more than a management position—it is an opportunity to take ownership, introduce new ideas, develop a team, and make a visible impact within a growing hospitality group.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations & Guest Experience:
Lead daily operations across restaurants, bars, events, and guest dining experiences.
Maintain a strong operational presence during service periods.
Ensure smooth buffet operations, service flow, presentation standards, and guest interaction.
Proactively manage guest feedback, complaints, and service recovery.
Drive a vibrant and engaging atmosphere throughout the resort's F&B offering.
Assist with the development of themed evenings, special events, beach dining experiences, cocktail promotions, and new guest experiences.
Bars, Controls & Financial Management:
Take ownership of bar operations, stock control, beverage management, and wastage reduction.
Implement and maintain operational controls and accountability systems.
Monitor beverage costs, stock variances, breakages, and outlet performance.
Work closely with purchasing, stores, and finance teams to improve efficiencies.
Support upselling initiatives including wines, cocktails, premium beverages, floating breakfasts, private dining, and special experiences.
Leadership & Team Development:
Lead, motivate, and develop multicultural service and bar teams.
Build structure, discipline, and accountability within the department.
Coach supervisors and develop future leaders.
Foster strong communication between service, bars, kitchen, purchasing, housekeeping, and front office teams.
Create a positive, energetic, and solution-driven team culture.
Planning, Standards & Organisation:
Develop and maintain SOPs, service standards, training plans, and organisational systems.
Ensure high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, safety, and presentation throughout all outlets.
Assist with outlet changes, operational improvements, and new concepts.
Prepare operational reports, action plans, and performance follow-up for senior management.
Who We Are Looking For:
This position is ideally suited to a young and ambitious hospitality professional who is ready to take the next step in their career.
Previous experience as an F&B Manager is advantageous, but strong Assistant F&B Managers, Restaurant Managers, or other high-potential hospitality professionals with the right attitude, energy, and leadership ability are encouraged to apply.
We are looking for someone who:
Leads from the front.
Thrives in a hands-on operational environment.
Enjoys building teams and developing people.
Has strong organisational and communication skills.
Is full of ideas and enjoys improving systems and guest experiences.
Takes ownership and accountability for results.
Brings positive energy, resilience, and a solution-oriented mindset.
Why Join Paradise Beach Resort?
Unlike many established operations, this role offers the opportunity to actively shape and improve the department rather than simply maintain existing systems.
Key opportunities include:
Working within a fast-growing hospitality group with significant opportunities for future career growth.
Close collaboration with senior management and Executive Chef teams.
Leading operational improvements and introducing new ideas.
Developing training programmes, SOPs, and service standards.
Playing a key role in the transition to a newly constructed restaurant facility, including operational planning, staff training, implementation of standards, and the successful move into the new venue.
Gaining valuable international hospitality experience with a predominantly European guest market.
Life & Work in Zanzibar
East Africa can be a challenging operating environment, and island life presents unique logistical and operational obstacles. Things do not always work exactly as planned, and flexibility is essential.
However, for the right person, the experience is exceptionally rewarding. This role offers responsibilities, exposure, and career development opportunities that would often take many more years to achieve in larger international markets.
If you are looking for a comfortable routine, this role is probably not for you.
If you are looking for adventure, growth, responsibility, and the opportunity to build something meaningful, we would love to hear from you.
Package & Benefits:
Net salary: USD 1,100 – 1,300 per month (depending on experience).
Accommodation provided.
Meals provided.
Annual return flight.
Visa and work permit sponsorship.
Six-day work week with one day off.
28 days leave per year.
Operational role requiring flexibility, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays when required.
Requirements:
Experience within a resort, hotel, restaurant, or all-inclusive hospitality environment.
Strong understanding of Food & Beverage operations.
Good knowledge of beverage management, stock control, and operational costing.
Hands-on leadership style with excellent floor presence.
Strong organisational and planning ability.
Ability to implement structure, controls, and accountability within teams.
Computer literate (MS Office, POS systems, and reporting).
Hospitality qualification advantageous, but operational experience and attitude are equally important.
Ready for the challenge?
If you are passionate about hospitality, enjoy leading from the front, and are looking for an opportunity to accelerate your career while living and working on one of the world's most beautiful islands, we would love to hear from you.
