Enterprise Systems Technology Manager

We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Systems Technology Manager to lead the governance, lifecycle management, technical direction and continuous improvement of SAP platforms, enterprise applications, integrations, middleware and automation technologies. The successful candidate will combine strong SAP and enterprise systems expertise with strategic planning, operational leadership and the ability to translate business priorities into sustainable technology solutions.

You will oversee technology roadmaps, application architecture, vendor performance, development delivery and operational support while supporting SAP S/4HANA readiness and clean-core adoption. The role also carries responsibility for major incident escalation, disaster recovery readiness, technology investment recommendations, budget management and the development of technical teams and service providers.

What You'll Do

• Develop and execute technology roadmaps for SAP platforms, enterprise applications, integrations, middleware and automation services.

• Lead application technology lifecycle management, including evaluation, procurement, deployment, upgrades, refreshes and decommissioning.

• Drive SAP S/4HANA readiness, migration planning and clean-core principles, promoting standard SAP functionality and limiting unnecessary custom development.

• Govern custom ABAP development, technical debt, development standards and the prioritisation of technical work.

• Review SAP, enterprise application, integration and middleware architectures to ensure solutions are secure, scalable, supportable and aligned with business requirements.

• Lead and manage SAP development teams, system administrators, support resources and outsourced service providers.

• Provide technical direction and operational oversight to outsourced SAP Basis teams and other managed service partners.

• Govern enterprise integrations and mission-critical data flows across SAP, logistics platforms, customer environments and third-party systems.

• Oversee SAP Process Orchestration, SAP Data Services and related middleware, while preparing for appropriate adoption of SAP BTP Cloud Integration.

• Ensure appropriate data separation and security controls across interfaces, databases, middleware and reporting layers to protect third-party customer information.

• Manage integration tooling, secure file transfers, robotic process automation and SAP archiving services, including vendor performance and operational support.

• Lead Agile development delivery, backlog prioritisation, release management, testing governance and production change control.

• Coordinate SAP upgrades, support packages, enhancement packs, kernel updates, patching, regression testing and production cutovers.

• Oversee technology budgets, vendor contracts, service-level agreements, commercial negotiations and cost optimisation initiatives.

• Manage technology risks, audit readiness, information security controls and compliance with relevant policies and standards, including ISO 27001-aligned practices.

• Ensure high availability and operational resilience across SAP and supporting enterprise technology services.

• Lead disaster recovery planning, failover testing and recovery readiness, including validation of recovery time and recovery point objectives.

• Act as a senior escalation point during major technology incidents, driving root cause analysis and sustainable remediation.

• Collaborate with Enterprise Infrastructure Services on initiatives involving cloud, hosting, databases, backup, disaster recovery and infrastructure dependencies.

• Present technology roadmaps, investment recommendations, risks, budgets and service performance to senior stakeholders.

• Coach and develop technical teams, strengthen internal capability and drive continuous improvement across enterprise systems.

What You Bring

• A bachelor's degree, advanced diploma or equivalent higher education qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems or a closely related discipline.

• Eight to ten years of experience managing SAP and enterprise technology environments.

• Strong knowledge of SAP platforms, enterprise applications and SAP S/4HANA transformation principles.

• Experience managing enterprise applications, middleware, integration platforms and associated support services.

• Demonstrated experience in technology governance, architecture reviews, lifecycle management and strategic roadmap development.

• Experience leading technical teams, managing third-party service providers and overseeing outsourced technology support.

• Knowledge of SAP Process Orchestration, SAP Data Services and related integration technologies.

• An understanding of application development, ABAP governance, clean-core principles and technical debt management.

• Experience supporting high-availability environments, disaster recovery, business continuity and major incident management.

• Experience participating in SAP S/4HANA migration, implementation or transformation initiatives.

• Strong vendor management, contract negotiation, budgeting and commercial decision-making capability.

• Experience with Agile delivery, release management, change governance and software development delivery.

• Knowledge of information security, compliance, risk management and technology controls.

• A solid working understanding of cloud technologies, hosting environments, databases, server infrastructure, storage, virtualisation, backup and foundational networking.

• Strong stakeholder management, communication, analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.

• The ability to balance operational stability, security, business requirements and technology costs while making sound decisions.

Relevant certifications in SAP, IT service management, project delivery, Agile, cybersecurity, cloud or infrastructure management will be advantageous. Experience in complex enterprise, logistics or supply chain environments is also beneficial.
