PROJECT CONSTRUCTION MANAGER

JOB PURPOSE

We are seeking an experienced Project Construction Manager to oversee building construction projects within a retail network development environment. The successful candidate will manage projects from design and planning through to construction and final handover, ensuring projects are completed within budget, on schedule and in accordance with quality, safety and governance standards.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• BSc / BTech in Engineering, Project Management, Quantity Surveying or a related Construction qualification.

• Minimum 6 years’ experience in the construction industry.

• Proven experience in construction project supervision and coordination.

• Experience managing contractors, consultants, project budgets and construction programmes.

• Knowledge of construction standards, quality management and health and safety requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supervise and coordinate building construction projects from planning through to completion.

• Liaise with architects, engineers, quantity surveyors, contractors and other project stakeholders.

• Monitor project costs, budgets, cash flow and expenditure.

• Review project designs, cost estimates, bills of quantities and construction proposals.

• Monitor construction programmes, milestones and project deadlines.

• Conduct regular site inspections to ensure quality workmanship and compliance with safety standards.

• Coordinate contractors and subcontractors to ensure efficient project execution.

• Monitor project variations, assess cost implications and manage scope changes.

• Facilitate progress payment claims in accordance with established procedures.

• Prepare and maintain project progress reports, cash flow reports and construction schedules.

• Attend site and design meetings and ensure project actions are followed through.

• Conduct snagging inspections and monitor the completion of outstanding remedial works.

• Ensure compliance with applicable governance, SHERQ and security requirements.
