A leading provider of flexible solutions for bulk solid material handling is looking for a highly qualified individual to join its Sales Team as a Regional Sales Engineer. The ideal candidate will be located in Gauteng, with responsibilities including travel to KwaZulu-Natal and occasionally other African countries.
We are looking for someone enthusiastic, detail-oriented and able to work effectively within a team. Key requirements include a positive outlook, strong time management and organisational skills, as well as excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
The successful candidate will be responsible for growing sales within an established territory by meeting with potential and existing clients and manufacturers' representatives. The role will involve negotiating technical equipment sales, developing strong customer relationships and maintaining effective communication with Sales, Applications Engineering and Marketing teams.
Responsibilities include regular sales visits to potential and existing customers, engineering specification reviews, system design, responding directly to customer enquiries, supporting internal sales personnel and providing technical sales support for process equipment across various industries.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, together with professional telephone etiquette, are essential. Regular travel will be required.
Business Development & Customer Management:
Work with the global business development team to identify potential new customers.
Identify and develop qualified sales opportunities through outbound prospecting, including telephone, email, LinkedIn and other business development channels.
Follow up on leads and prospect information provided by the business.
Research new manufacturing facilities, plant expansions, industry developments and growth opportunities within assigned markets.
Maintain accurate customer, prospect and opportunity records within the CRM system.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse customer base within the materials handling industry.
Customer Enquiries & Technical Sales:
Evaluate customers' material handling projects.
Design material handling systems to meet customer requirements.
Determine appropriate pricing and prepare quotations.
Follow up and negotiate with customers to secure orders.
Internal Sales Support:
Review quotations generated by internal sales personnel.
Provide technical sales support where required.
Project Management Support:
Assist in obtaining all relevant information required by the engineering, production and controls departments to design and manufacture material handling systems.
Act as a liaison between customers and internal departments when questions arise during the production of material handling systems.
Monitor and track leads and quotations using the company's CRM system.
Excellent verbal, written and telephone communication skills.
Ability to establish and maintain effective customer and team relationships.
Ability to understand customer requirements and recommend appropriate technical solutions.
Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work independently with minimal to moderate supervision.
Strong time management, organisational and multitasking abilities.
Ability to compile, review and reconcile data accurately.
Ability to prepare clear and concise reports, procedures, correspondence and other written materials.
Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, codes, standards and regulatory requirements.
Willingness to learn, develop and grow within the organisation.
Proficiency in standard computer applications, including CRM systems and Microsoft Office 365 (Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
Willingness and ability to travel regularly.
Technical background and strong technical aptitude.
National Senior Certificate.
Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or similar diploma would be advantageous but is not essential.
