Position Overview
The Quality Assurance / SHEQ Manager will be responsible for maintaining and improving the company’s Quality Management System, conducting audits, managing corrective actions and addressing quality-related concerns across the business.
The role also includes environmental responsibilities and the monitoring of production output, efficiency and wastage.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance
Maintain the company’s ISO 9001 Quality Management System and complete the implementation of ISO 9001:2015.
Maintain the required quality standards in preparation for annual audits by an accredited authority.
Monitor, maintain, review and update all required operational procedures.
Review and maintain company work instructions.
Review and maintain job descriptions.
Review the quality management responsibility procedure.
Review and maintain quality management policies.
Ensure that employees are informed, aware and trained in the procedures relevant to their duties and responsibilities.
Conduct regular internal audits.
Issue corrective action requests and maintain the necessary audit reports and records.
Conduct external quality audits on suppliers when requested or directed by the Managing Director.
Follow up on corrective action requests and close them once the required corrective action has been implemented satisfactorily.
Provide the Managing Director with weekly updates on the progress and status of the Quality Assurance System.
Quality Control
Receive and review relevant information and non-conformance reports from the General Managers to identify problem areas and possible corrective actions.
Address quality concerns relating to products or services.
Implement appropriate procedures or corrective actions to prevent recurring quality problems.
Conduct quality and warranty claim investigations and report on the findings.
Issue corrective actions relating to quality and warranty matters.
Report findings to the Managing Director.
Liaise with the Metallurgical Laboratory and follow up on outstanding reports.
Identify areas within the company that could affect product or service quality.
Implement procedures to address identified weaknesses or improve the situation.
Implement quality measurement systems for reporting purposes.
Environmental Responsibilities
Conduct surveys to identify environmental matters that need to be addressed.
Implement corrective actions to improve identified areas of concern.
Production Monitoring
Implement an effective system to monitor output across all machines and shifts.
Monitor output during day shift, overtime and night shift to support optimum production efficiency.
Report production inefficiencies and the reasons for them.
Implement or initiate appropriate corrective actions.
Implement process management procedures to improve efficiency and minimise wastage.
General Responsibilities
Assist in other areas of the business when required to support the continuity of operations.
Assist with special projects as requested.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a practical and hands-on quality professional who can maintain quality systems, conduct audits, investigate quality concerns and ensure that corrective actions are properly implemented and completed.
The successful candidate should be organised, thorough and comfortable working across quality assurance, quality control, environmental matters and production operations. This role will suit someone who can identify problems, implement practical improvements and provide clear progress updates to management.
Remuneration
A market-related Cost to Company package of approximately R25,000 to R30,000 per month, depending on the successful candidate’s experience and suitability for the position.
