Job Description
The Senior Software Engineer specialising in frontend development is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality user interfaces within a banking and finance environment. This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, performant, and secure applications that meet business needs and enhance customer experience. The role involves applying best practises in software engineering and frontend technologies to ensure robust and maintainable code.
Job Duties
- Develop, test, and deploy frontend applications using modern web technologies and frameworks.
- Collaborate with product owners, designers, backend engineers, and other stakeholders to define and implement innovative solutions.
- Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs and optimise applications for maximum speed and scalability.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following established coding standards.
- Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers to maintain code quality and consistency.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve frontend-related issues and bugs in a timely manner.
- Stay current with emerging frontend technologies, tools, and industry trends and evaluate their applicability.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes, tools, and methodologies.
- Participate in architectural discussions and ensure frontend solutions align with overall system design.
- Adhere to security and compliance standards relevant to the banking and finance sector.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline is required. Equivalent professional certifications or demonstrable experience may be considered.
Knowledge and Skills
- In-depth understanding of web markup, including HTML5 and CSS3.
- Proficiency in JavaScript and frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js.
- Good grasp of asynchronous programming, promises, and event-driven architecture.
- Knowledge of frontend build tools and package managers such as Webpack, Babel, NPM, or Yarn.
- Experience with state management libraries like Redux or Vuex.
- Understanding of security best practises relevant to web applications.
- Ability to write clear and comprehensive technical documentation.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as part of a team.
Required Skills and Experience
- React and TypeScript preferred
- Angular enterprise portal experience as an alternative
- Proven maintainability and skill availability; component-based architecture, enterprise UI frameworks, API integration, responsive design, accessibility compliance, state management, admin portal configuration screens, and secure frontend development.
