Junior Risk Analyst Cape Town
We are looking for a bright Junior Risk Analyst 2-3 years experience to join our clients Risk team. You will support risk monitoring, reporting and control assurance across credit, market and operational risk, helping ensure the business operates within its risk appetite.
Salary: R18,000 – R32,000 gross/month experience.
Minimum requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Risk, Statistics, Commerce or related.
- 2–3 years’ experience in financial services, risk, internal audit or analytics (graduates welcome).
- Strong Excel skills; familiarity with SQL, Power BI/Tableau or Power Query advantageous.
- Understanding of basic risk concepts (credit exposure, PD/LGD, operational risk).
- Excellent attention to detail and good communication skills.
- Experience with banking/insurance systems, GRC tools or regulatory reporting.
- Interest in professional development (FRM/PRM/CFA modules).
Key responsibilities
- Prepare monthly/quarterly risk dashboards and MI for senior management.
- Monitor KRIs and limit breaches; escalate and follow up on remediation.
- Assist with risk assessments, control testing and maintenance of the risk register.
- Investigate operational incidents and support root-cause analysis.
- Support regulatory and internal reporting as required.
- Work with stakeholders to implement risk mitigations and improve processes.
