Are you an experienced Tax Consultant / Accountant looking to take the next step in your career?
An independent, specialist financial brokerage is seeking a Senior Tax Consultant / Accountant to join its dynamic team. The successful candidate will manage a portfolio of clients, overseeing the full accounting and tax function while providing tax planning, compliance and advisory services.
This role is suited to an experienced accounting professional with a background in an accounting firm, strong SARS e-filing knowledge and practical experience using CaseWare and Pastel.
Key Responsibilities
Full Accounting Function: Manage the full accounting function for a portfolio of clients, including processing transactions through to trial balance.
Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly management reports and draft annual financial statements for companies, trusts and sole proprietors using CaseWare.
Tax Compliance: Prepare and submit individual and company income tax returns, as well as VAT returns for sole proprietors, companies and trusts.
SARS & E-filing: Manage SARS correspondence, submit notices of objection and attend to suspension of debt applications through e-filing.
Tax Advisory: Provide clients with advice on accounting and tax matters, identifying opportunities to optimise tax strategies and minimise tax liabilities.
Client Relationships: Work closely with clients and internal teams, maintaining professional relationships and providing reliable service.
Client Visits: Travel to client premises when required.
Minimum Requirements
Education: Accounting Degree or Higher Diploma (non-negotiable).
Articles: Completed accounting articles.
Experience: 3–5 years' experience within an accounting firm or accounting practice.
Professional Affiliations: Membership with SAICA, SAIPA, ACCA, CIMA or SAIBA is preferred.
Software Knowledge: Practical working knowledge of CaseWare and Pastel is imperative.
Tax Knowledge: Strong understanding of SARS e-filing, income tax, VAT and tax compliance.
Logistics: Own reliable vehicle and a valid driver's licence (non-negotiable).
Attributes: Professional, deadline-driven, able to work under pressure and comfortable managing multiple client portfolios.
