Job Description Summary The primary responsibility of the Scaler Operator is to ensure underground work areas are safe by visually inspecting the roof and sidewalls from safe areas and barring down loose or hanging rocks with the machine. Additionally, the operator utilizes a spade attachment to scrape ore away from the face to clear the area for upcoming production tasks. Daily functions include conducting pre-shift inspections, completing risk assessments, adhering to lockout procedures, performing basic preventative maintenance, and recording precise breakdown and shift time splits between barring and cleaning.
