Roles and ResponsibilitiesCPE DISPATCH ENGINEER – NETWORKING Location: Century City, Cape Town Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30–17:30 UK time Employment Type: Permanent in office (no hybrid or remote options available) Monthly package: Basic salary of R32 000 + Medical aid subsidiary + provident fund + Learning and upskilling opportunities and courses funded by the company Our client is a UK-focused telecommunications and connectivity provider with its South African operations based in Century City, Cape Town. We are looking for a CPE Dispatch Engineer with a strong networking background to join the team. This is a hands-on networking and service provisioning role, focused on configuring customer network equipment, supporting A-end builds, troubleshooting connectivity and assisting with customer service go-lives. What will you be doing? You will be responsible for preparing and configuring customer-premises equipment (CPE) before it is dispatched to customer sites in the UK, as well as providing technical support during service activation.
Key responsibilities include:
Configure and prepare Cisco, FortiGate and Juniper CPE devices according to customer requirements. Assist with A-end builds and network configuration within Cisco IOS, NX-OS and IOS-XR environments. Configure and troubleshoot networking services including IP addressing/subnetting, NAT, DHCP and VRRP, with an understanding of BGP. Diagnose customer connectivity and network issues and escalate more advanced issues where required. Support customer go-live/bring-live sessions to ensure equipment and connectivity are functioning correctly. Work with internal teams to ensure customer services are completed and activated on time. Prepare equipment for dispatch to UK customer sites and provide remote technical assistance during installation and activation. Participate in project meetings and provide technical updates where required. Work according to the company's information security and operational procedures. What are we looking for? We are looking for someone with 3+ years of practical networking experience, rather than a general IT support background. Preferred technical experience includes: Cisco networking equipment FortiGate firewalls Juniper networking equipment Cisco IOS Cisco NX-OS Cisco IOS-XR IP subnetting NAT DHCP VRRP Basic/working knowledge of BGP Routers and switches Telecommunications/connectivity environments Network troubleshooting and customer connectivity support CCNA or JNCIA certification, or currently working towards one, would be advantageous.
Please note: The above technical technologies are preferred requirements at this stage while the final mandatory requirements are being confirmed. Candidates do not necessarily need to have experience across every technology listed, but should have a solid networking foundation and relevant 3+ years hands-on networking experience. This role would suit someone who has worked as a: Network Engineer Network Support Engineer Network Technician NOC Engineer Network Provisioning Engineer Network Implementation Engineer CPE Engineer Telecommunications / Connectivity Engineer Important: This is not a general IT Support / Desktop Support role. Candidates should have hands-on experience with networking equipment, network configuration, connectivity troubleshooting and/or service provisioning. Working Environment The successful candidate will be based on-site at the Century City office in Cape Town, supporting a UK customer base. The role follows UK working hours, Monday to Friday, 08:30–17:30 (UK time) in Office no remote or hybrid options, the successful must be flexible and willing to work outside standard office hours to assist with customer bring lives which might be requested outside of normal working hours.
