JOB ADVERT: SECURITY OFFICER

Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Security Officer to join our team in the Western Cape. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of company premises, assets, employees, and visitors. This role requires professionalism, vigilance, and the ability to respond effectively to security‑related situations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct regular patrols of company premises to maintain a secure environment
• Monitor and operate surveillance cameras, alarm systems, and access control systems
• Perform access control duties, including vehicle and body searches where required
• Respond promptly and professionally to alarms, emergencies, and incidents
• Enforce company security policies, procedures, and protocols
• Identify, investigate, and report suspicious activities, security breaches, or incidents
• Compile accurate and detailed incident and occurrence reports
• Provide assistance and guidance to employees and visitors
• Liaise with management, emergency services, or law enforcement when necessary

Minimum Requirements

• PSIRA Grade A certification
• PSIRA registered and in good standing
• Valid Firearm Competency Certificate
• Must have own firearm
• Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent qualification
• Clear criminal record (screening will be conducted)
• Computer literate (basic operational proficiency required)
• Good communication skills (verbal and written)
• Ability to remain calm, professional, and decisive under pressure
• Physically fit and able to stand and walk for extended periods

Experience

• Previous experience in a security or guarding role will be an advantage
• Proven background in:
  • Access control
  • Vehicle and body searches
  • Incident report writing

Preferred Qualifications

• Valid First Aid / CPR certification
• Additional security‑related training or certifications

Working Conditions

• Full‑time position with shift work, including nights, weekends, and public holidays
• Exposure to various weather conditions
• Potential exposure to physically demanding or confrontational situations
