Job Summary
ENVIRONMENT:
A manufacture and distributor of a wide range of specialised ingredients is looking for a Material Buyer who is responsible for the planning of raw materials and ensuring that the production plan can be executed. Through close contact with the planner and suppliers you ensure a solid supplier relationship and performance.
DUTIES:
Inventory Management
- Ensure that stock holding is managed as per the policy.
- Run daily shortage report.
- Run requisition report.
- Place orders according to daily shortage & purchase requisition report.
- Weekly run purchase requisitions look 3 months ahead place orders with suppliers.
- Non Bom items report requested from RMS , place orders where short.
- Review MOQ and safety stock and investigate possible alternatives and lead time to suit their requirements.
- Communicate supply issues that could be potential risk to the production planners
- Supplier meetings to discuss performance, potential new business and forecast.
- Interact with 3rd party transporters e.g., Allied (Sugar) and Cargo (P597 FATS) on stock to be collected for site.
- Interact with accounts department.
Health and Safety
- Report any non-conformances to the Food Safety Manager.
- Ensure high levels of safety and hygiene by promoting and monitoring such programmes.
- Ensure security measures are suitable and maintained to ensure optimum information, people and property conservation.
General
- Support the full integration of the Supply Chain function.
- Support the identification and redesign the Supply Chain processes, systems and structures.
- Identify opportunities to reduce costs / improve efficiency.

- Food / food ingredient manufacturing industry experience preferred.
- Broader planning / supply chain experience / exposure preferred.
- Education
- Relevant Commercial / Operations Diploma.
- Commercial / Operations Degree preferred.
- SAPICS / CIPS certification preferred.
