Title: Workshop Manager Sector: Transport & Logistics Location: Eloff, Mpumalanga Salary: R45,000 Nett per month (approximately R60,633.41 CTC) Working Hours: 07:00 – 17:00 (Candidates must be available after hours, weekends, and public holidays for urgent operational requirements.) With a strong reputation for operational excellence, the business manages a large fleet of heavy commercial vehicles and is committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety, reliability, and efficiency. They are seeking an experienced Workshop Manager to lead their technical workshop operations and ensure maximum fleet availability through effective maintenance and strong team leadership. Description An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Workshop Manager to oversee all workshop operations and drive the maintenance strategy for a large fleet of heavy commercial vehicles. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring preventative maintenance schedules are achieved, repairs are completed efficiently, workshop productivity is maximised, and all vehicles remain compliant with legal and safety standards. This role requires a hands-on leader with extensive heavy commercial vehicle experience and the ability to manage a high-performing workshop team. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage all workshop operations to maximise fleet availability. Plan, schedule and monitor preventative maintenance and repairs. Supervise, mentor and develop workshop staff, including mechanics, artisans and apprentices. Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults. Monitor workshop productivity and turnaround times. Manage workshop stock levels and spare parts. Ensure all vehicles are roadworthy and compliant with legal requirements. Maintain accurate workshop and maintenance records. Investigate breakdowns and implement corrective and preventative actions. Provide technical support to Operations and Fleet Management teams. Monitor fuel efficiency, tyre management and component life. Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental and company policies. Requirements Grade 12 (Matric). Minimum 5 years' experience within a heavy commercial vehicle workshop. Minimum 3 years' experience in a Workshop Manager or Workshop Supervisory role. Extensive experience working with PBS trucks, side tippers and heavy commercial trailers. Experience with Afrit and PRBB side tipper trailers is essential. Strong preventative maintenance experience. Computer literate with experience using Microsoft Office and workshop/fleet management systems. Strong understanding of workshop planning, maintenance scheduling and fleet availability. Excellent leadership, organisational and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities. Strong understanding of health and safety legislation. Valid driver's licence. Must be willing to work extended hours, evenings, weekends and remain available after hours when operationally required.
