Title: Technical Breakdown Manager Sector: Transport & Logistics Location: Eloff, Mpumalanga Salary: R45,000 Nett per month (approximately R60,633.41 CTC) Working Hours: 07:00 – 17:00 (Candidates must be available after hours, weekends, and public holidays for urgent breakdowns and operational emergencies.) They are seeking a technically strong and proactive Technical Breakdown Manager to ensure fleet downtime is kept to an absolute minimum through effective breakdown coordination and preventative maintenance management. Description An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Technical Breakdown Manager to take ownership of the company's fleet breakdown operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the complete breakdown process from initial notification through to final resolution, ensuring that all breakdowns are handled quickly, efficiently, and cost-effectively. This role requires someone with strong technical knowledge of heavy-duty trucks and trailers, excellent coordination skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure while managing emergencies. Key Responsibilities Manage and oversee all vehicle breakdowns from start to completion. Coordinate repairs with suppliers, workshops, technicians, and service providers. Arrange roadside assistance and vehicle recovery when required. Continuously follow up on all active breakdowns until repairs are successfully completed. Monitor fleet downtime and implement preventative measures to reduce recurring breakdowns. Ensure repairs meet company standards and operational requirements. Obtain quotations and manage repair costs to ensure cost-effective maintenance. Maintain accurate breakdown, repair, and maintenance records. Work closely with Operations, Workshop, and Technical teams to minimise operational disruptions. Identify recurring mechanical issues and recommend preventative solutions. Ensure urgent matters are attended to after hours when operationally required. Requirements Grade 12 (Matric). Previous experience in a Breakdown Management role within the Transport or Logistics industry. Strong technical knowledge of heavy-duty trucks and trailers. Experience managing vehicle breakdowns, roadside assistance, and repair coordination. Experience working with fleet maintenance, breakdown management, or fleet tracking systems. Computer literate with the ability to maintain accurate maintenance and breakdown records. Experience with side tipper fleets will be advantageous. Excellent communication and organisational skills. Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability. High attention to detail. Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage emergency situations. Proactive with excellent follow-through and a sense of urgency. Must be willing to work extended hours, evenings, weekends, and remain available after hours for urgent operational matters.
