The Role
The successful candidate will take full accountability for the daily manufacturing plan, ensuring that production targets are achieved on time, within budget, to required quality standards, and in a safe working environment.
This role is responsible for overseeing the effective conversion of raw materials into finished goods through optimal utilisation of machinery, systems, and people. You will play a key role in aligning production outputs with broader business objectives of efficiency, effectiveness, and adaptability.
Key focus areas include:
- Driving attainment of daily production targets and accurate reporting of planned vs actual output
- Leading and motivating production teams to deliver high performance
- Implementing and championing Lean manufacturing, 5S, and waste reduction initiatives
- Ensuring compliance with all internal policies, BCEA, LRA, Bargaining Council Main Agreements, and OHS legislation
- Managing performance, training, multiskilling, and workforce planning
- Partnering with Maintenance to ensure preventative maintenance schedules are executed
- Managing raw material yield and reducing operational waste
- Embedding a strong quality culture aligned to “Do it Right the First Time” principles
- Ensuring strict adherence to health, safety, environmental, and emergency procedures
Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric (essential)
- Tertiary qualification in a Production-related discipline
- Post-matric qualification in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering (advantageous)
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in a middle management role within a manufacturing environment
- Strong working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles
- Proficiency in MS Office (advanced Excel essential)
- Syspro experience advantageous
