KAROO VILLAGE LOOKING FOR A SOUS CHEF ? About the Role As Sous Chef, you will play a key leadership role in our kitchen, supporting the Head Chef in delivering high-quality dishes that reflect both classic hotel dining and innovative cuisine. You will help manage daily kitchen operations, supervise staff, maintain hygiene standards, and contribute to menu development. ? Key Responsibilities Assist the Head Chef with daily kitchen management Supervise; train, and mentor kitchen staff Oversee food preparation and presentation to hotel standards Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations Assist with menu planning, stock control, stock taking and ordering Maintain high standards of cleanliness, workflow, and efficiency Step into the Head Chef role during their absence ? Minimum Qualifications & Requirements Formal culinary qualification (NQF Level 4–5 / Professional Cookery or equivalent) Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a professional kitchen At least 2 years in a senior / supervisory role ; preferably as Chef de Partie or Junior Sous Chef Strong understanding of food costing, portion control, and stock management Proven ability to lead and motivate a kitchen team Excellent knowledge of kitchen safety, HACCP principles, and hygiene standards Ability to work under pressure in a high-volume environment Passion for quality, creativity, and consistency in food presentation ?
