A premium Stellenbosch wine estate is seeking an experienced and passionate Assistant Front of House Manager to join its tasting room team. This role is ideal for a hospitality professional with a strong wine service background, leadership skills, and a love for creating exceptional guest experiences. Salary: R15 000 – R17 000 pm Description: The Assistant Front of House Manager supports the Hospitality Manager while taking primary responsibility for the daily operation of the tasting room. The successful candidate will lead a dynamic team, oversee guest interactions, manage operational flow, and drive sales, all while maintaining the estate’s high standards of service. While the role is tasting room focused, team members are expected to be fully trained across all hospitality operations, including restaurant service, to ensure seamless service delivery. Key Responsibilities Lead and motivate tasting room staff, ensuring excellent service standards Host wine tastings, VIP experiences, and tours Manage front-of-house operations including guest flow, seating, and bookings Liaise with the kitchen for smooth food service and operational coordination Conduct stock takes and assist with stock control and order management Support daily administrative duties, cash-ups, and operational procedures Drive wine sales and upselling across cellar door and international orders Assist with staff training and ongoing wine education Salary: R15 000 – R17 000 pm Position Details Location: Stellenbosch Reporting to: Hospitality Manager Environment: Wine estate tasting room Requirements: Previous supervisory or assistant management experience in hospitality or a winery tasting room Wine service or hospitality qualifications (Hospitality Diploma, WSET, Cape Wine Academy, or similar) advantageous Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills Passion for hospitality, wine, and guest service excellence Ability to thrive in a busy, fast-paced environment and maintain operational standards
