Job Summary
Overview
- This role is suited to a senior-level engineer with strong backend development expertise and exposure to high-volume, transactional systems. You’ll play a key role in building, enhancing, and maintaining scalable systems, while contributing to architectural decisions, mentoring team members, and improving engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical integration of new clients into existing platforms
- Design, develop, and implement new system functionality
- Enhance and optimise current system features and performance
- Conduct development testing, debugging, and ongoing maintenance
- Provide 3rd line support and resolve complex technical queries
- Ensure system security, compliance, and audit readiness
- Drive improvements in development processes, tooling, and standards
- Mentor junior developers and contribute to team leadership
Core Requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Software Development, Computer Science, or Engineering
- 8+ years’ experience in software development (backend-focused)
- Strong experience with:
- Java (Standard & Enterprise Editions)
- Spring Boot
- SQL (MS SQL Server / PostgreSQL)
- Solid understanding of development workflows and tools:
- Git
- Maven
- Eclipse / NetBeans
- Experience working in CI/CD and automated testing environments
- Exposure to API development and integration (OpenAPI or similar)
Advantageous Experience
- Financial services or payment processing systems
- High-volume, real-time, multi-threaded system environments
- Postilion (source/sink node development)
- Agile methodologies (Scrum / Kanban)
- Frontend development exposure (Angular)
