ASSISTANT GUESTHOUSE MANAGER Oude Berg Guesthouse | George, Western Cape Full-time | Non-live-in position Oude Berg Guesthouse is looking for an experienced hospitality professional to join the team as Assistant Guesthouse Manager. This is a hands-on junior-to-mid-level management position suited to someone who already has practical hospitality experience and some staff-supervision responsibility, and who is ready to grow into a broader operational role. The successful candidate will work closely with the owners/directors and assist with the day-to-day running of the guesthouse. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Assist with the daily running of the guesthouse Supervise housekeeping and operational staff Allocate daily duties and monitor work standards Conduct room and property inspections Ensure rooms are ready and correctly presented for guest arrivals Assist with guest check-ins, enquiries and complaints Maintain bookings and guest information Complete basic daily operational and occupancy reporting Monitor staff attendance and leave records Report and follow up on maintenance issues Assist with stock control for linen, amenities, groceries and cleaning products Carry out grocery and operational shopping when required Check deliveries and maintain supporting records Manage petty cash, receipts and basic operational administration Liaise with suppliers and service providers Assist with staff onboarding, training and performance monitoring Monitor guest feedback and online reviews Help ensure guesthouse standards, procedures and health and safety requirements are maintained MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Applicants must have: A minimum of 2–3 years' practical hospitality experience in a hotel, guesthouse, lodge or similar accommodation establishment Previous experience supervising staff or taking responsibility for day-to-day operations Experience dealing directly with guests Good administrative and organisational skills Good computer literacy Experience with a property-management or accommodation booking system A valid driver's licence A formal qualification in Hospitality Management, Hotel Management, Tourism Management or a related field will be an advantage. Experience with NightsBridge will also be an advantage. Relevant practical hospitality experience is an essential requirement for this position. WHO WILL SUIT THIS ROLE? WORKING HOURS This is a non-live-in position . Working hours are structured around guesthouse operations and include key periods such as breakfast, room inspections and guest arrivals. Some flexibility is therefore required. Regular weekends off are provided, subject to proper operational planning and handover. REMUNERATION Remuneration will depend on the successful candidate's relevant experience, qualifications where applicable, and suitability for the position and will be discussed with shortlisted candidates.
