Company Overview:
My Client is a well-established hospitality management company, operating across in Uganda and Kenya - East Africa with properties known for delivering luxurious experiences in stunning natural settings. They are currently seeking a highly experienced Group Sales and Marketing Manager to lead their dynamic sales and marketing efforts across the region. This role is critical in driving revenue, expanding market presence, and strengthening their brand within the competitive tourism industry.
Position Overview:
As the Group Sales and Marketing Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all sales and marketing activities across the company’s properties. Your leadership will shape marketing strategies, manage relationships with key accounts, and guide the sales teams in achieving both short-term targets and long-term business goals. This position requires a strategic thinker with extensive experience in the hospitality industry, especially in the East African market, and a passion for innovation and growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sales and Marketing Leadership:
- Establish and direct all sales and marketing activities for the group across all regions.
- Develop and implement short- and long-term marketing strategies to meet annual and strategic goals.
- Assign sales territories, set target groups, and establish sales quotas.
- Actively seek new business opportunities through marketing campaigns, trade shows, networking, and e-commerce platforms.
Revenue Growth and Business Development:
- Drive proactive yield management and sales campaigns to maximize revenue.
- Develop innovative products and services for the sales team to take to market.
- Manage relationships with key corporate accounts, repeat guests, and travel agents, ensuring exceptional service delivery.
- Contribute to the company’s expansion plans through due diligence and business proposals for new properties.
Central Reservations and Team Management:
- Manage the Central Reservation team and systems across all regional offices.
- Oversee human resources functions for the department, including hiring, training, and performance management.
- Ensure compliance with brand standards and operational procedures for all sales and marketing activities.
Public Relations and Brand Development:
- Serve as the company’s public relations officer, managing media appearances and developing marketing materials for trade shows and events.
- Attend both local and international trade shows, representing the company and building relationships with key stakeholders.
- Enhance and develop the company's brand image and marketing collateral.
Market Analysis and Strategy:
- Analyze market trends and competitive set data to determine pricing strategies and optimize revenue.
- Conduct regular reviews of sales progress, budget performance, and marketing strategies, adjusting plans to meet objectives.
- Prepare and present regular reports on the department’s performance to the Board of Directors.
Digital Marketing and Online Presence:
- Lead the development and management of the company’s online sales platforms and digital marketing strategies.
- Ensure the company’s online presence is optimized for maximum visibility and engagement.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, or a related field. (Required for work permit)
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a similar role within a multi-property hospitality group. Familiarity with the East African safari business model, trends, and seasons is highly beneficial.
- Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft and Google Workspace.
- Thorough knowledge of both local and international marketing strategies.
- Knowledge of Central Reservations and Property Management Systems (PMS) such as ResRequest, Opera, Fidelio, or Tall Order.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to appear confidently in front of the media.
- Knowledge of tour operating systems and digital sales platforms.

- Ability to manage multiple work streams simultaneously and meet deadlines under pressure.

- Willingness to travel extensively across the region.
