Field Guide - Luxury Private Game Reserve - Sabi Sand, Greater Kruger Kendrick Recruitment is searching for a passionate and experienced Field Guide for a renowned luxury private game reserve in the prestigious Sabi Sand Game Reserve, forming part of the Greater Kruger ecosystem. This property forms part of a well-regarded South African family-owned luxury hospitality group with exceptional guiding standards and a strong culture of guest experience, mentorship and team development. This is a live-in position for a dedicated, guest-focused guide who thrives in a dynamic safari environment. The lodge is also open to applications from guiding couples or couples where one partner is a guide and the other holds a relevant 5-star hospitality background in lodge management, camp management, guest relations or finance administration. Please note: Due to current accommodation constraints & reserve requirements, this position is unable to accommodate children or pets. Candidates with children or pets are respectfully advised that suitable accommodation cannot be provided at this stage. Minimum Requirements - Field Guide: FGASA Nature Site Guide NQF4 - essential Trails Guide qualification - essential Advanced Rifle Handling (ARH) and Rifle Proficiency - essential Valid SAPS Firearm Competency - essential SASSETA registration - essential First Aid Level 1 minimum - essential Valid driver's license and PrDP - essential Previous experience as a Field Guide in a luxury safari lodge environment - essential Excellent guest interaction, communication and hosting skills Strong tracking, ecological knowledge and interpretive skills Comfortable living and working in a remote, live-in bush environment Stable work history with contactable references Couple Applications - Second Partner Requirements: The lodge will consider couple applications where the second partner holds relevant experience in one of the following: Guiding Partner: FGASA Nature Site Guide NQF4 - essential Full Lead Trails Guide qualification - essential ARH; Rifle Proficiency, SAPS Firearm Competency, SASSETA - all essential First Aid Level 1 minimum - essential Valid driver's license and PrDP - essential Previous Field Guide experience in a luxury safari lodge - essential Lodge Manager / Assistant Lodge Manager: Minimum 3 to 5 years' lodge management experience in a 5-star safari lodge - essential Strong operational, financial and team leadership skills Excellent guest relations and hosting ability Camp Manager / Guest Relations Manager: Minimum 2 to 3 years' camp or guest relations management experience in a 5-star lodge or boutique hotel - essential Strong FOH operations, guest hosting and communication skills Finance Administrator: Minimum 2 to 3 years' finance administration experience within a luxury lodge or hotel environment - essential Solid understanding of financial controls, stock management, reporting and administrative systems Proficient in MS Office - strong Excel skills essential Experience with lodge finance or property management systems advantageous All couple applicants must have stable work histories with outstanding, contactable references. Key Responsibilities - Field Guide: Lead morning and evening game drives and guided bush walks to the highest standard Deliver guest introductory and safety orientations, interpretive lectures and bush events Track; identify spoor and contribute meaningfully to the ecological knowledge shared with guests Assist with kids' safari programmes and family experiences Practice proficient and safe weapon handling at all times Contribute to lodge social media platforms with relevant wildlife sightings and content Collect and communicate guest information and preferences prior to arrival Assist with incident management including medical emergencies, fire and flood Report all guest complaints to the Head of Department immediately Assist the Safari Management with departmental administration as required Mentor and support junior guides within the team Package: Market-related salary based on experience and qualifications Live-in: Accommodation and meals provided Standard group benefits included Should you feel you are the right fit for this role, please apply with your updated CV, contactable references and a recent head and shoulders photo ASAP!
