Role Overview The Activities Manager plays a key role in bringing the outdoor and family experiences to life. This position is responsible for the day-to-day planning and delivery of activities across the estate, with a strong focus on horse riding, children’s programmes, and cycling and walking trails . The role blends hands-on leadership with thoughtful curation, ensuring every activity is safe, well-run, and aligned with the ethos of authenticity, care for the land, and meaningful guest connection. Key Responsibilities Curating Meaningful Guest Experiences Design and oversee seasonal, nature-based activity programmes that reflect the farm’s lifestyle and sense of place. Ensure activities feel personal, engaging, and suitable for families, couples, and individual travellers. Continuously refine offerings based on guest feedback, seasonality, and estate initiatives. Horse Riding Experiences Manage all horse riding activities with a strong focus on animal welfare, safety, and respectful interaction with the land. Oversee scheduling, guest suitability assessments, equipment, and trail usage. Lead and support horse guides and grooms, ensuring a calm, knowledgeable, and guest-focused approach. Children’s Activities Create enriching, age-appropriate children’s programmes that encourage curiosity, creativity, and outdoor play. Maintain a safe, nurturing environment aligned with family-friendly values. Supervise and mentor staff delivering children’s activities. Trails; Cycling & Outdoor Recreation Oversee cycling, mountain biking, and walking trails, ensuring they are safe, well-maintained, and clearly signposted. Manage bike hire operations, guest briefings, and equipment care. Collaborate with maintenance and conservation teams to protect the landscape and trails. Safety; Care & Compliance Uphold the highest standards of safety across all activities, including risk assessments and emergency procedures. Ensure compliance with legal, insurance, and estate requirements. Maintain accurate records, incident reports, and operational documentation. Team Leadership & Culture Lead; train, and schedule activity facilitators, guides, and seasonal staff. Foster a warm, knowledgeable, and service-driven team culture. Encourage a shared respect for guests, animals, and the natural environment. Operational Coordination Manage daily activity schedules, bookings, and resource planning. Monitor equipment, stock, and operational costs. Work closely with Reservations, Hospitality, Front Office, and Marketing teams to ensure seamless guest journeys. Experience & Skills Experience 3–5 years’ experience in outdoor activities, guest experiences, or leisure management. Background in estate, lodge, farm, or lifestyle hospitality environments preferred. Skills & Approach Naturally organised with a hands-on, calm leadership style. Strong attention to detail, safety, and guest care. Confident communicator who connects easily with guests and colleagues. Passionate about the outdoors, animals, and creating meaningful experiences. Qualifications (Advantageous) Relevant qualification in Hospitality, Tourism, Outdoor Recreation, or Equine Studies. Valid driver’s licence. Own Transport essential Personal Qualities Grounded; warm, and approachable. Responsible and safety-minded. Adaptable and comfortable working outdoors in all seasons. Willing to work weekends, public holidays, and peak periods.
