The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive General Maintenance Manager to lead and manage maintenance operations across our South African warehouse network.
Reporting to the National Operations Manager, you will provide both strategic and operational leadership across multiple sites. You will drive equipment reliability, infrastructure integrity, contractor performance, statutory compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
The successful incumbent may be appointed as the Supervisor of Machinery (GMR 2.1) and will support compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and machinery regulations.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on operational performance and asset reliability while working closely with internal stakeholders, contractors, and service providers nationwide.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and implement maintenance strategies across all sites
• Drive preventative maintenance programmes and continuous improvement initiatives
• Oversee the maintenance of buildings, infrastructure, plant, and warehouse equipment
• Ensure compliance with all statutory, safety, and operational requirements, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act and machinery regulations
• Ensure machinery is safe for operation, appropriately guarded, and maintained in line with legal requirements
• Implement and enforce lock-out procedures during maintenance and repair activities
• Manage fleet and mobile equipment maintenance, including forklifts, front-end loaders, trucks, and company vehicles
• Coordinate and manage contractors, service providers, and OEM relationships
• Manage maintenance budgets, expenditure, and contractor performance
• Lead maintenance, engineering, and improvement projects across the business
• Monitor equipment performance, minimise downtime, and improve operational reliability
• Support operational priorities across all South African sites
Qualifications & Experience
• Engineering Diploma (Mechanical) – T3 / N5 or higher
• Qualification meeting GMR 2.1 competency requirements (Supervisor of Machinery eligibility)
• Minimum 5 years’ maintenance experience within a chemical, warehousing, logistics, manufacturing, or industrial environment
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a maintenance leadership role
• Proven experience managing multiple sites, contractors, and service providers
• Strong knowledge of infrastructure, plant, equipment, and fleet maintenance
• Sound understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and statutory compliance
• Experience managing maintenance budgets and contractor performance
